Lithuania: Visa and Immigration:

Arrived in Vilnius last month and am on a 90 day tourist visa (U.S. Citizen). I want to stay in the country longer = how difficult is it to apply and get a visa without having to leave within 90 days and not being able to return until 180 days have passed (meaning three months out of the country). How difficult is the visa process and tips or recommendations? It probably would have been easier to apply for the visa from the U.S before I made the trip?
