Costa Rica: Young Couple Considering Moving to CR:

My husband and I are 36 and 34 respectively. We have made the move with our 5 year old daughter. We chose playa del coco as our spot...not because we are crazy interested in the night life - but its there if we wanted it. We live in a nice community of small condos with a pool, and get a good dose of interactions with all sorts of people..some who are older and some who are younger. Some long term, some short term. So it is a good mix that keeps things interesting. I am guessing that the younger crowd is more along the coast lines - with interests in scuba, beach, bars, and surfing. Whereas the older crowd is more in the cooler areas away from the heat of the beach, so..Atenas area grecia etc., Then a mix of both depending on income source in Escazu and Santa ana and San Jose. Just a guess though. Absolutely NO proof to back that guess up :)

Costa Rica: Nurses Needed:

Hello I am looking for find a nurse or two with injectables experience - such as botox or other fillers. It would be part time work at first leading to full time as we expand business. Its work for a medical tourism company. If anyone has that experience and is interested, or knows someone who may be - please contact. We are flexible on location, prefer Guanacaste/Liberia - but can work out arrangements for other parts of Costa Rica as well. We are flexible. Thanks!

Ecuador: Salinas Area:

I live in Salinas..moved here November 26,2012 so I don't know too much yet. Rentals are a bit tight at the moment because its high season. There are a few people in the area that can help though. Amy Prisco is one.. For websites about Salinas specifically unfortunately I don't know of any. I just googled and found various posts on a lot of blogs and forums out there, and hobbled my information together from there. If there is anything specific you would like to know there are other people in Salinas that are here, as well as myself who would be happy to respond.

Ecuador: Furniture for sale - Guayaquil:

I hope this is helpful for someone - The lady who I rented a condo temporarily from has a lot of VERY nice furniture for sale from a house thats being sold. I thought I would share it here for anyone looking to furnish their own place. To arrange for viewing or purchase you can email her at lucymontalvo16@hotmail.com Her name is Lucy - she is fine for both English and Spanish. I have posted this on two facebook groups and here as well - I think that covers everyone pretty much. If anyone has any suggestions on other places I should recommend to her for selling that would be great. I am not up to date on how people sell their furniture here yet.

Costa Rica: Potential Long Term Visitor:

So it seems my search for a new home for my family has brought me to Costa Rica. I have been researching various locations for the past..3? 4 years? My list has included Merida/Mazatlan in Mexico, Jamaica, Ecuador and Belize. My beginning research Costa Rica came up but I dismissed it as already discovered and probably too expensive based on a quick look on craigslist rentals. I have revisited recently the idea of Costa Rica because of certain amenities that I need, that I may have to just suck it up and pay more expenses in Costa Rica to be able to have everything I need + . So, here is my background. I am looking to move somewhere for approximately 5 years. Long term goal. Could be shorter, could be longer. Out the gate I will be keeping my home in Canada and renting it out. I will be returning back to Canada for visits with friends and family at the very minimum every summer for a couple of months. I really do not want to tangle with immigration. From what I have read we can stay for up to 3 months, leave for 72 hours and then come back for another 3 months rinse and repeat. Is that accurate? If so, sounds awesome. Every three months going for a long weekend to Nicaragua or Panama? No problem. My family consists of myself and my husband and my soon to be 5 year old daughter. It also consists of my retired parents. We want to be on the coast or within reasonable driving distance to the beach if the property has a pool. And we 100% want to rent and not purchase. I need a location that is relatively close to a private school and is furnished and I 100% need internet as that is how I earn a living. As long as I have a stable internet connection (high speed) then I can earn my income. All that being said, I am completely lost as to where to look. Would like to be in reasonable distance to other expats - so we have people to reach out to for assistance until our Spanish is up to par. Also I dont think my mom will be able to learn Spanish, so having expats around might be best for her. Help? Thanks very much.

Jamaica: Short-term Rental:

I highly recommend you contact Hyacinth Levy hyacinth.levy@gmail.com She is amazing and will work to find whatever you are looking for especially for long term. I just got back from there yesterday, and she went above and beyond for me. If you need a driver I have a good one of those too. Mr. Forbes. Let me know if you need his phone number. Cheers.

Jamaica: Moving to JA:

I want to move there and bring my family with me. I work online so I can work anywhere I have a good internet connection. The immigration part is confusing me. We are Canadians. My Dad who will be coming along is Jamaican but has his canadian citizenship as well. So he is no trouble. I on the other hand can get a jamaican passport through descent - but my husband can not. Anyway, I want my daughter to go to school in JA so my traveling schedule will be matching her school schedule. Hence my confusion. It says you can stay 6 months without a visa as a Canadian. I plan on going down for late august early september, coming back late december for 2 weeks then returning in janaury til june. Then in june coming back to Canada for two months, then going back to Jamaica in September and repeating the process for 5 years. So - basically - is the 6 months max per trip? Or is it per calendar year?
