Brazil: Expat offers Advice on various Topics:

Some places in Brazil are cheaper than Sao Paulo, Rio, Brasilia. In a cheap place you can live in a spartanian way with $1500 ( roughly R$2400). I mean in a studio (about R$ 800), no health plan (about R$ 300), prepaid cell phone, no car and no escess in supermarket (R$ 500). You can teach english to complement your income. Here in Brasília, a private english teacher make about R$ 60 per hour. That's the amount I pay to my teacher. If you need some help, ask me: alexandre-candido@ig.com.br.

Brazil: How bad is the crime thing, really?:

I live in Brasilia, Brazil capital. Where crime rate and income are like Finland. But prices is like Manhattan. There are more than 100 embassies and a 5 or 6 international schools. I recommend!
