Yellow fever took out over 20 thousand people building the Panama canal and the French pulled out due to this, the Americans came up with a vaccination and eradication program and were the ones to build the canal.

Nicaragua: Need a recomendation for 1 month stay in Grenada:

I love staying at El Carmen......studio apartments with a great kitchen and great people in a safe neighborhood.Close to everything. You can find them on Airbnb.com if you want to see pics.I have stayed here 3 months in the past 5 months, was in Panama the other 2. I don't like hotels and prefer my own kitchen.

Nicaragua: Airport BnB or guesthouse:

I have an early flight out of Managua and I have decided it would be best if I stay one night nearby. I know there is a Best Western across the street but I hate cold sterile hotels. Any thoughts on a bed and breakfast or guesthouse close to the airport.

Nicaragua: Moving to Granada:

El Carmen Guest house on El Consulado, studio apartments with full kitchens.I like to cook instead of going out all the time a saves a lot of money too. You can check them out on Airbnb.com. Have stayed here 3 months in the last 5months,was in Panama for the other 2 months. I don't think Spa Granada has kitchens? But it is a beautiful hotel and nice pool area.

Nicaragua: Trip Agenda - Realistic?:

I would recommend you rent in an area you are considering for a number of months. There is always the honeymoon period where everything is wonderful then reality sets in,you hate the weather, services are poor, etc. You are coming to a very poor country, things are done differently or not at all. Here is a website that you can look at rentals, good luck on your journey. http://www.encuentra24.com/nicaragua-en/classifieds

Nicaragua: Airport to Granada:

So ADELANTE EXPRESS just sent me an email saying they don't have a shuttle available for Monday for the posted time(from their website) but I can hire a car for $40, shuttle was $25. I feel like they pulled a bait and switch on me. Anyone have a shuttle or taxi they like to use for no more than $30? Managua-Granada.
