Norway: Start-Up costs moving to Norway:

Just to share my experience. I moved from UK to Gradermoen for work (at the airport). I am renting a place in Jessheim which is 20 minutes bus to the airport and 3 busses in an hour. I am 2 minutes walk from the Jessheim centre so easy access to bus/train station, bank, restaurants and one fairly big shopping centre. So my recommendation would be to look for a place in Jessheim centre which is close (walking distance) to Jessheim shopping centre. Even if you need to pay a bit high rent, it makes sense else you would end up paying for car anyways. I reckon you may get something reasonable for 8000 NOK a month. I had a company car which I returned (very high tax in Norway even on benefits you receive from company) and I am very happy to use buses. Monthly bus pass (Jessheim to Gardermoen airport) for NOK 640. To search accommodation, as suggested by Fiona, use Finn.no Good luck

Norway: Seeking advice for moving to Norway from uk:

Hi, hope you all are settling in well in your new adventure. Would be nice to share your exoerience. I moved from Uk to Norway and have been here (near Gardermoen airport) for 1.5 years and must agree that irrespective of this place being the most expensive place i have ever visited and cold weather isnt easy to cope with, this is one of the most beautiful place and I like being here. I dont know norwegian but apart from domestic shopping when i cant read what is written on tin/box - i havent had any issues so far. your thoughts?

Norway: JESSHEIM - AKERSHUS:

Any expat living in Akershus / Jessheim?

Norway: Hi:

Are you looking to move to Norway or surely moving here? If so, which area? If you are planning - I would recommend Oslo. More job opportunities and English is very common. I Moved to Norway is sep 11 and I still know nothing about Norwegian. No issues at work, however when you go out shopping or make friends - it will help to know the language. Good luck I must say - Norway is beautiful.

Norway: wishing to work in norway:

Sesrch Finn.no for jobs and built your network with recruitment agencies - this will give you much better indication and directions. Check which city has more open positions for your field - then plan accordingly. I am new here and it's a great place to live. At work language is not an issue but it can become hindrance for your social life. Best of luck.

Norway: New friends in Oslo:

Whats the best way to find new friends in Oslo / Jessheim area? Moved from uk to Norway 8 months ago. can't speak Norwegian.

Norway: Norwegian and Norway:

Hi, Recently moved from UK to Norway to work for a UK based company. At work, its ok to live with English and as I stayed in the hotel for around 4 months so I didnt have any issues - since i left hotel and now renting house in Jessheim, I feel its absolutely important to learn Norwegina. Anything I want to buy, All the road signs while driving, Going to website for information etc etc - all in Norwegian! There is no course available on the weekend or evenings!! Is there any help - such as any college or individual who can teach me Norwegian. the next task on the list will be to learn Skiing..... I must say its a great country to live
