Brazil: GIVING UP BRAZIL. RETURNING TO THE US:
I can hardly disagree with you on anything about brazil......Your blog is informative, sincere, factualand much more as far I have seen of brazil and I do not have the space here to elaborate but I believe you are a kindred spirit of the soul....My wife and son live in belo horizonte and I am moving there soon God willing....My email is oespanhol01@hotmail.com if you care to keep in touch....Keep the faith, brother!!...You are dead on!!!!..
Brazil: Work visa question:
If you are married to a brazilian national, you should apply for permanent residency in Brazil.....I know it is easy to do at a brazilian consulate in the US but I have seem some redtape over there...The three types of permanent residency :
1. Pensioner of at least 3500 US$ monthly and deposited regularly in a brazilian bank account
2. Married to a brazilian national like me
3. Have a relative there as I have a son with my brazilian wife....
Just for the heck ot it, I spoke to a brazilian lawyer to do it for me in Brazil and he wanted 1500 reais upfront so I forgot about him....You can contact the Policial Federal there and they will help you and bring your wife or brazilian friend to interpret as need may be....By the way, if you go the married to a brazilian national rout, then I suggest you open an account with Charles Schwab as they do not charge for ATM withdrawals and only 25$ for wire transfers regardless of amount remitted and with a good exchange rate ( No, I do not get anything for this but personal satisfaction as I love to help other people in these matters...Schwab and Fidelity was recommended in an article in Living and Investing Overseas which I found interesting as I had emailed them concerning getting funds from US to Brazil last month and got no response but they printed this...... All the best!!.
Brazil: Brazil Government:
There is an old saying, "People get the government they deserve" maeaning if the people do not do anything to fight for a good government, they will not have it...Former French President DeGaulle said about Brazil "Brazil has a great potential and will stay that way for many years to come" meaning the system will not change there for a long time due to the people's acceptance of the incredibly corrupt status quo and lack the will to fight against it.
