Ecuador: "The Great Guest Mentality!":

Hey guys, First off - THANK YOU for the fried chicken suggestion. We were just debating what to cook for dinner, and that fits the bill, spot on. ...I've not spent as much time EC as we of you. But I can seriously say that being back in NC .... I feel like one of those guests who wishes he had left last week. It's really sucking up here, man. .. tranquilo is not the word of the day.. ugh Hopp

Ecuador: So long and thanks for all the fish:

Lol.. Sometimes it's better to be a five to niner ..Well it is good to see everyone is alive and as manic as usual.. ...So that's cool.. Wouldn't have it any other way. ..And yes, KM, we are old - thank you, lol, for making that clear, buddy. ..Because god knows my hip and back aren't actively trying to make me aware of it. And Sue, my ankle is still f##k'd up from breaking it in that pothole Yeah I know.. "wah" Hopp

Ecuador: Expat meeting locations:

@WS Hey, Shadow... man, i'm trying to remember the name of restaurant/bar on the edge of El Centro.. help me out, here - you probably know it. Ok, first off,I can't remember the name of the road, damnit, but it is that road that runs along the river - parallel with Calle Large, but down the hill? It's on the el centro side of rio tomabamba and this restaurant is on this road, across the street from the river. Ok, a better set of directions: - you know the wide set of stone steps that go down from Calle Large to the newish bridge that crosses the river - it is the set on the right about a block past the Espresso Bean (old Coffee Tree).. and halfway own the steps on the right is that walled in bar called "Wunderbar". if you walk down the steps all the way and take a right on that riverside road, there is nice place on the right a couple of blocks down. Its the place that has bbq like say, North Carolina style BBQ ork, various sandwiches and a good selection of beers and drinks. It's gringo geared (and maybe owned for all I know) Do you know where I am trying, (badly) to describe? Hopper

Ecuador Welcome Forum: Problems on site.:

Sup, Windy? ...man, next time I'm in town.. and if you EVER hear me gripe about getting cold? ...please, smack me over the head with your gutair. ..then say "voilà.. now your warm" ...because I'm usually there this time of year and ...anyway, here Hopp

Ecuador Welcome Forum: WTF:

Lol Given the content of some of our threads, it wouldn't shock me that much..

Ecuador: Steal this thread:

Post anything you want on here so that no one feels the thread they were the original poster of has gone off topic.. ( like every thread has done and will do ) . That was just a preamble. We are one day away from DJT being sworn into office. The Senate confirmation hearings - they've been like pulling teeth and to watch. I seldom cringe, but most of these appointees are possibly the most insane choices for the offices they are poised to fill. ...and vetted? No.. it would seem the transition team just skipped that part and figured the chips could fall where they may. The appointee for the EPA? Oklahoma's Atty General.. really? He shut down OK's state version of the EPA.. and he has sued the US EPA 19 times (8 of them still are pending) ...so, what? He is going to head a dept he is currently suing? He'll be plaintiff, defendant, judge and jury... should he be confirmed. ...sued the EPA over regulations concerning clean water.. air purity.. soot.. Mercury levels? ...yeah that too. The list goes on. But hell, that's only the tip of the iceberg. There will be 6 or more vacant seats for directors in the NSA.. from the director of African affairs, to Europe to Israel and the Levant and on. And these seats don't even need confirmation.. just need to simply appoint SOME one ...but they'll be empty after tomorrow. The pick for Heath and Human Services is a mess... He has traded individual securities while working and voting on bills that directly affected the stock prices, has bought on tips and ....really. Did they vet any of them even a little first? Damn.. Rick Perry was offered the job of heading the energy dept.. and thinking that this meant having control over international oil and gas issues, he quickly accepted. ...but that's not the job. but being over our nuclear arsenal is. ...really? Rick Perry is going to be in charge of the Earth's largest cache of thermonuclear weapons? I have never experienced actual angst as a new POTUS took office. This time though... angst is a pretty big understatement. And hell... I'm not even the paranoid type. But I am watching this mess play out and noticing my mouth is hanging open half the time in disbelief. So please - steal this thread. Throw some mud.. "banter" or make jokes all you wish. I need the distraction. Of course, I'm serious about the content, and these things are barely 5? of what is really baking my noodle. ....really? Hopper

Ecuador: Why Have There Been So Many Earthquakes in Ecuador?:

Yes, a group of grasshoppers saved my life. I was watching them for signs of trouble.. ...then I got very hungry so I ate them. (thus the name) Thank god for insects! ...and they turn red when cooked to a crunchy crisp.. mmm.. Hopp

Ecuador: SURVIVOR ECUADOR:

No apologies necessary, DL.. ...will you accept this ros... ...wait wrong reality show Cris - you're the hoot..lol (and keep a supply of those sunglasses. i either sit or lose a pair or two week) ....so I'd be a regular customer just remember, Ray Bans are only 6 or 7 bucks in Ecuador.. (damn I love their disdain for copyrights!) ...now, if I could just hold onto a pair for more than a few days... yeah.. that would be a first Hopp

Ecuador: A Fine Ecuador Cigar $2:

Well Susie I'll try one ...but only if you wrap it in one of your Mango Papers... they taste... GOOD!! and I heard somewhere that mangos have special properties.. :) (now.. where the heck did I pick up that bit of useful info??) Hope you're well, hon Hopp

Ecuador: Pen Pal Anyone:

Lol... Take heed, Cici.. this place is more akin to a lion's den. Sin and WS are actually sane - to the extent any of us are - so you're in pretty good hands. ...just don't be too shocked by things you read in our common forum. Rock - is deader than dead Shock - is all in your head We are better than we act ..lol Hopper
