Any information regarding Perth and surrounding WA for relocation. I am looking for permanent status. How are the people, jobs, climate, housing, cost of living. Looking forward to meeting the "Friendly Aussies".

Australia: Moving from Arizona to Perth:
Hi Annabelle,
I too am looking to relocate to Perth, from the US.
I have live all my life in the western US and love the wide open spaces of the west..
Is the area around Perth similar? I am in the finance business and might entertain the purchase of a business in Perth. Have you any info on Bunburry? I read that it is a fast growing suburb (bedroom community) of Perth. I have experienced that super friendly Aussie culture in both Sydney and Melbourne and am looking forward to the same in Perth. I was paying a combined taxation of 55% in California a few years ago so I won't mind the taxes in Perth. Do you know what the maximum tax is on income?
Living in London now, I bet you miss the sunshine of Perth! Thank You for your time...
Take Care, Gary O
Australia: U.S. Expatriates in Australia:
Hi Kath,
I'm looking forward to checking Perth out in April of this year... I am going to try to relocate there permanently. I have been to Sydney (too many people) and Melbourne (very charming) but having lived in San Diego, CA I think that Perth might be the right place! I am single and in finance. I love the Aussie attitude toward life. In the US we tend to "live to work" whereas in Oz the feeling is more "work to live", with work being more of an inconvenient interruption in the living of life. I love the western US as far as the open spaces are concerned and have lived most of my life in the western US, and hope that the area around Perth is similar. If you can provide any "real world" information (getting to know the locals-the workplace-employment opportunities-housing costs-general costs of living-weather-pace of life-crime-etc)... I would be very appreciative. Also, how do you compare the work environment in the US with Perth? Having visited with some old school friends in Baltimore a few years ago, I wonder how you compare it to Perth? I can't imagine Baltimore in the same sentence with the Perth I have read about! Looking forward to hearing from you...Thank you for your insight into Perth.
Take Care, -- Gary O
