Jordan: Visa extension:

it cost 1 JD/day

Jordan: AQABA, JORDAN:

Renting in Tala Bay will cost you a fortune since it is a resort...fine for a holiday but there is nothing there apart from the resort. In Aqaba you can rent a 2-3 bedroom for 350 JD/month you won't need a secure compound Aqaba is a very safe well policed port town/city with al the western amenities -Safeways Liquor shops it is also a tax free zone.

Jordan: AQABA INTEL. AVAILABLE:

I use Aqaba as a base in the ME- anyone needing intel about the town let me know...depending on what your are looking for I have a good reliable English speaking contact who could be an asset.

Global Expat Forum: Banking overseas:

Dominican Republic they pay 25%(depending on volume) on USD deposits on an international debit card. Talk to John Schroder http://www.ascotadvisory.com/ he is the local fixer. Give him my regards. Sean from Sosua

Global Expat Forum: Looking for a job in the Dominican - From England:

I assume you have done the relevant web sites? http://www.jobinthesun.com/jms/jspreview/search.cfm?page=position-description&JobID=%24%23%5D%28B1%40%20%20%0A&CFID=21214898&CFTOKEN=32363493 Is this idea for a paid holiday/adventure? If so I would suggest hotel/event management-tourism for one of the corporate resorts on the north shore on the POP side. Any of you speak french?...the reason I ask is that if you ever want to get anything done it is useful to be able to talk to the workers who are all Hatian-the Dominicans do very little except delegate and charge a fee. It really merits a road trip/look see. Residency requires throwing some US$ at a lawyer...the DR is complicated unless you have a friend already on the ground. Talk to John Schroder http://www.ascotadvisory.com/ he was our "fixer" when when we were there in the 90's. Give him my regards. Sean (from Sosua)

Global Expat Forum: Convicted felon needs advice:

Choose your destination country-then marry someone from there. US citizens with a record are suspect most places-sorry thats the best I can come up with.

United Kingdom: US citizen wanting to move to UK:

gah26 is right as an American you'll never qualify esp with all the eastern block contingents who can just walk in and start work. Get hired in the states as upper management by a US based company who has hotels/resorts in the UK. You need to be like an envoy from the mother company and a specialist in catering to their(US) hospitality in UK. I Know three people who have pulled it off and are now married to a local and have full residency- in one case there was a divorce and he is now a marketing guy for Bourne Leisure Group! Good story ! Remember that Brits (esp senior UK civil servants/home office types)still view the US as a relinquished Colony! Despite the war they decided was unnecessary to win and so surrendered the colony to the locals-(1775-1783)
