Mexico: Relocating from US:
Hi, we moved to San Miguel de Allende 2 yrs, ago with a permanent visa which we obtained at the Mexican Counsel in Las Vegas. It took 2 hrs. from Hurricane Utah to Las Vegas (the nearest Mexican counsel). It took about 15-20 minutes at the counsel to review all our paperwork that we were told to bring. The youngman who took care of us was nice. he came back and said you have been approved so far. All you have to do is bring your photographs and your FBI reports and fingerprints.
We went home smiling and at home I went on the computer to find out how to get the FBI reports and fingerprints. I found out the report could be done on line and where to go for the fingerprints. I filled out the form for the report and the next day we went for the finger prints and photos. We traveled 2 hrs. to Las Vegas again the next day at the Mexican Counsel they checked all the new paperwork that they required. Took another 15-20 minutes. Photos were taken at the counsel also. The young man left went to the back of the office and came back with our greencard. Permanent Resident) Without travel time it took 30-40 minutes for us to get our greencard.
We travelled in our Honda CRV to Mexic, which we intended on keeping but upon checking with immigration here we were told that we could not, because the Vin number started with a J (Japan). Only vehicles from Canada or the USA are allowed to be imported or buy one here. They gave us 30 days to get the vehicle out. It could not be sold here either. We took the car back to the USA and sold it 3 hrs. after we put an ad on Craigslist for a better price than we expected.
We were told my the Mexicans that anything is possible in Mexico and that we could have kept the car or sell it here. Of course it would be breaking the law and we were not about to do that.
We have been happy here in San Miguel but we are thinking of exploring other cities such as San Cristobal de Las Casas in the state of Chiapas.
Anyone knows anything or have suggestions about San Cristobal?

Mexico: Comala:
Hi, I have been reading the comments on Colima and Comala.
Can anyone suggest little towns nearby Comala to research and visit
with cooler temps. I am now living in San Miguel de Allende, but the rocks on the streets in SM are getting too difficult for hubby and yours truly. Can anyone help?
Mexico: Community:
Hi, I live in San Miguel de Allende and I would like to know the name of the community 45 minutes away mentioned by an expat in his/her comment about living here. It sounds like a beautiful place and we are looking for a place outside of San Miguel.
Thank you in anticipation of your response. Angie
Mexico: San Miguel Allende:
Hello anyone:
We have just returned from Merida, Yucatan and Oaxaca, Mexico and are very excited about the country of Mexico. Both places are wonderful but we would like to know a little about San Miguel de Allende and perhaps pay a visit to learn some more before we decide where to plant our nest.
If anyone has information on San Miguel we would be very appreciative of it.
