Nicaragua: Yet Another Cedula Question:
I asked this before but did not get an answer other than referring me to another site that doesn't address this particular topic.
My wife is a Nicaraguan native but has lived in the United States since 1978 and is a U.S. citizen. She has a cedula but it expired 25 years ago. Is her path to a new cedula different than it would be for non-Nicaraguans? Anyone have this kind of situation themselves?
Thanks a bunch for any help.

There are no obligatory vaccinations but I am getting the 3 shot Hepatitis A&B combo. The county health department also recommended Typhoid and Rabies vaccines although I haven't decided if I will get those yet.
Nicaragua: Moving Assistance Questions:
I apologize if these questions have been previously answered but I don't remember seeing them.
My wife and I are in full planning and implementation stage now for an early 2015 move to Granada. The following questions are ones that I need help with. Thanks in advance for response to any of the questions.
1. I am trying to find a home for my 10 year old cat but will take him with us if we can't find a home for him. Has anyone used a pet moving service and how much does it cost? If I take him myself any thoughts on him being in a small carrier for up to 10 hours?
2. Once you have a cedula do you still file state income tax returns? I would think if you are a Nicaraguan resident the answer would be no.
3. We are thinking of doing an advance trip to establish housing and then doing the final move after. Any thoughts on the necessity of this?
4. One resource suggests contracting with the shipper from Nicaragua instead of the states. Has anyone done this and is there a recommended shipper for a car plus goods?
5. Anyone have experience with getting a new cedula where the spouse was born there and still has their old cedula although it is expired for 25 years now?
6. Does it matter when submitting cedula docs who or where the translations are done? Recommendations?
Sorry for the long list but thank you for any responses.
Nicaragua: Food and Water Safety:
My wife and I just returned from a visit to Nicaragua and stayed in Granada and Chinandega. We have family in Chinandega. I had a medical incident where I ate something for breakfast that didn't agree with me and ended up not eating or drinking all day and ended up fainting. A little trip to the hospital and medication for parasites and stomach upset and I was fine again.
My question is: Those of you who already live there, do you take any special precautions with food and drink? How safe is the food and drink in the restaurants and how safe is it when buying from the market or a street vendor?
Is it a matter of your body adjusting to whatever is in the food an drink in Nicaragua and you just put up with it until that stage is reached.
Any insight would be appreciated as we are looking to relocate next year.
Thank you.

Nicaragua: Residency Application and Explanation of Requirements:
So I was recently in Los Angeles and went to the consulate there to see if I could pick up a residency application as my wife and I are planning on relocating in the near future. The gentleman at the consulate told me I needed to get it in Managua. Is this true? Is there no way to get an application from the U.S. I have visitors from Miami soon so if there is a possibility of getting these forms there I would appreciate knowing that too. Thanks in advance
Nicaragua: Income Requirements:
My wife and I are thinking of moving to Nicaragua in 2013. We will use our Social Security income to live off of when we reach 62 but that is still 4-5 years off. If we planned to live on liquid assets but not have any actual income other than that, would this be allowable under the income requirement to immigrate to Nicaragua.
