Colombia: US begins restrictions on Colombian visas:
You can not serve two masters. You say that you favor Latinos and then support the man who clearly disfavors all those who oppose them. Why do you even reside in a Latino country with your ideology?
Colombia: Trump & Colombia:
He first has to settle those little things called lawsuits based on his not so fair dealings. Rumor is he also has a rape case floating out there somewhere. He might just get impeached. America's finest?
Colombia: buying a condo:
I recently just acquired my new apt. The construction company will ask for a down payment. They will give you time to put this money in a Colombian bank of their choosing. A word of warning please make copies of all payments and get a receipt from the selling agency or construction company. I ran into this about non received payments and I had to run over to the office and show my payments. They run on a very archaic payments received system and you don't want them to put your money in their pockets. Hold them accountable.
They will then give you up to 18 months or more to complete the transaction while the housing project is completed. I would recommend paying the minimum until the project gets completed and your given title and keys to the new place.
It's very easy to buy here. Like I said the projects here fall behind regularly. I had to threaten them with a complaint with the Protegido de Consumidores Office and so they are paying my rent while my place is done. My place is about 95% done but still I finally found someone that does business the right way even though I had to push back hard.
Colombia: Has anyone used Mercado Libre?:
I have purchased several items using ML along with Yaxa and Linio. I have found that they deliver as promised and they will let you know ahead of time the cost of sending the item to you. The only problem I had was with a seller who advertised an xbox with a certain game and who decided that he would replace the advertised game with something else. I would recommend buying something small from the seller to try them out at first and see if they deliver.
Colombia: Colombian's receiving 10 year American Visas:
A lot of Armenia's, are acquiring 10 year visas to the United States with the intention of staying and working under the radar. I wondered if this was correct and found that there is not really a good system once you are in the states that does follow up on their whereabouts. I do not know the criteria on handing out visas but it appears that the visa office needs to recheck their criteria and perhaps curtail 10 year visas to 6 months or so. I will address this in the next town hall meeting. Colombians brag about working in the states due to the ease of obtaining a 10 year visa with little supervision.

Colombia: internet, tv and phone:
One thing that I find here is that the internet goes out here and there and there is little fanfare from the service provider. Most players in this market are: Claro, Une and I believe Movistar. Talk about a monopoly. TV service for me is good with no really bad service issues. Please keep in mind that you also have Directv, but I do not have that service.
Yes, you can have Netflix here that along with other providers that offer English movies online as well as sports sites that I have located to watch my favorite teams.
Wifi is king here and many local stores have wifi but you will need to ask for their clave.
You can find deals starting at the 83,000 cop range for tv and internet and yes, it goes up from there. It all depends on your estrato level.
Knowledge is power.
Colombia: Safe driving from Armenia to Pereira in a car? Any suggestions?:
No problem just bring your pesos to pay at the toll both arriving and departing on the main highway. Motos are free. Go figure. Take your cedula with you just in case. Not too many places to park on the street in Pereira just parqueaderos. Costs more just to drive there, tolls, pay for parking and etc... Bus is 6000 cop plus cab fair to two malls located nearby the terminal.
Colombia: Manana Time in Colombia: How it Works:
Perhaps, it is not them that are different but rather us to them. Hard to look at the mirror and say wow I must look like a funny bird to them. Trust me. I was the same way until I began to assimilate. Perhaps, the funny thing I ever heard in my life was while vacationing in Mexico I overheard an Old gringo shout out "why don't they speak English here?"
Colombia: English for Adults:
As all Colombians already know this, Sena the country's no fee school is open to all Colombianos and extranjeros.
