Costa Rica: Should I or should I not:

Getting it at 'a steal' may not help you avoid the taxes, as they will be determined by the Blue Book here, so you will have to pay approx 80% due to its age....so don't know where you got the less than $2000 amount. Cost+Insurance+Freight = whats due. https://costaricalaw.com/costa-rica-legal-topics/customs-and-trade/costa-rica-importing-a-car-how-much-are-the-taxes/

Costa Rica: Don't be afraid about the interview:

Obviously, I am not married to a 'Tico' and didn't have to sit through an interview where one is asked about a spouses family, hence I only have secondhand info. As I understand it, one is asked to present multiple photos of previous occasions where both parties are in the photos along with other family members. A few years ago, permanent residency was automatically given to the immigrant spouse but due to many getting 'married only for convenience' this was cancelled. and they now have to wait 3 years and then apply like 'regular' Temporary status applicants'

Costa Rica: importing older vehicle:

At the moment there is no ban on importing older vehicles....although there has been 'discussion' on it. https://costaricalaw.com/costa-rica-legal-topics/customs-and-trade/costa-rica-importing-a-car-how-much-are-the-taxes/

Costa Rica: Mobile Internet:

Here is an article explaining why the 'net is really slow 'for many of us. "At present, 89 percent of Costa Ricans’ Internet access is through mobile service. This is due in part to the lack of fixed Internet options, especially in rural or difficult-access locations'. Those of us who have no choice, except to use 'mobile internet', hope the high court rules in 'our' favour, soon! I managed to get online, very early this morning where I read this info., but I had to go try to get a 'hot spot' in town to send this communication and emails. After checking around, nothing higher than 2+ bars...so came home, and after a while, managed to get online. http://news.co.cr/costa-ricas-high-court-to-decide-on-restrictive-internet-measures/58677/

Costa Rica: New to CR by marriage, need help and advice:

You will read the info on the ARCR forum, that you can't work until you have a cedula stating that you are indeed, 'legal to work' however this could take up to a year or more. When applying for Residency based on marriage to a CR citizen, immigration will request additional information including previous photos of you and your new spouse with extended family, etc. and you will have to attend a 'meeting' with immigration. Expenses are listed here: https://outlierlegal.com/services/immigration/legal-fees-government-fees-and-expenses/

Costa Rica: To good to be.....practical?:

It can be a great place to live, if you can afford it. It is an expensive place to raise a family and it is not cheap putting them through school to get a good education since you can't legally work for a few years. Read the info on this site : https://outlierlegal.com/

Costa Rica: Slow loading?:

Is anyone else experiencing a very slow loading time to access this site?

Costa Rica: Pensiado Visa:

Expect it to take up to a year...and you may be happily surprised. However, it could take longer. No real evidence that it will take longer or shorter time when including your dependents. You will each have to apply individually as you, as the principal applicant.

Costa Rica: how is.the quality of health care in in Costa Rica:

Do you have a particular question?

Costa Rica: Relocating to Limon area:

Increased crime plus the murder of a Canadian tourist a few weeks ago, has increased the police presence in Puerto Viejo with a new police station being constructed. However, I still wouldn't want to live in this area.
