Poland: Looking for a long-term rent (flat or house). Which sites are recommended?:

You may have to opt for using an agent to help you as not all landlords will be able speak English. Try to look up local real estate agents as many will likely speak English. They can also help you with negotiations and drafting a lease. The downside is that they will ask for commission once the lease is signed. Typically 1 month. Search for posrednik nieruchomo?ci and you will get a list of local agents. Hope that helps a bit.

Poland: Health Insurance:

where are you coming from? If your employer is based in the EU and they pay your social benefits there you should have an European insurance card which covers your emergency trips to hospitals. In addition your employer should provide you with private healthcare provider where you will have an network of physicians to choose from. if you are on your own for finding a provider Cigna has expat plans but most of the time you will have to pay out of pocket and then submit bills for reimbursement.

Poland: NFL games online or anywhere on TV in Poland?:

Hi, We are out of luck. There are no live tv games on tv in Poland. You can subscribe to live games on NFL.com for about 200 bucks per season and watch online. What I do is I have an extra dish receiver in my sister's house in the States and I use a sling box. You must have good internet connection on both ends in that case. You can buy a regular sling box or Dish network offers their sling for less. Good luck.

Poland: Transferring Money from the U.S. to Poland:

Hi, That 7% was harsh, what bank was it? I use raiffeisen and they have no such charge. I only pay the $45 chase fee for internstional wire. I would make sure that I pick a bank on the U.S. side with a low wire fee and that you can submit wire transfers online. Then once in Poland find a bank that has no incoming wire fees. Ohh, that account in Poland will have to be a dollar account, not zloty. Look into Capital One checking account. I was told they dont have intl ATM fees, meaning you can withdrawl money with a good exchange rate without the the fees. Matt

Poland: NFL in Poland:

Hello all - I moved to Krakow recently and I'm wondering if there are certain TV networks or channels which broadcast NFL games. Any bars/pubs that carry NFL games in Krakow? I'm not sure how I will handle my first season w/o the regular Sunday ritual :( Matt

Poland: American citizen will move to Poland to live with Polish citizen wife. What do I need?:

Bluesview - I'm kind of on the same boat. I grew up in the states and now I moved to Krakow and live with my girl. I've been here for about two months and I really enjoy it here. Food being the number one on the list. I have also started to look for a job. I would say its not easy from what I have found out but the jobs are out there. Many US companies have locations in Poland, mainly Warsaw and Krakow (where I reside) The thing is I was born in Poland and my parents took me to the states when I was 11. Not sure what it takes to get a work permit as a US citizen. Learn Polish, but in bigger cities you wont have much problem communicating in english at restaurants, bars, or even stores. Also beef is not the same in EU. What I miss the most or what I will miss the most would be the US sports that are not easy to come by here on TV. Good luck, and tell us how its going.
