Colombia: Cost of living:

After 26 trips in 6 years all over Colombia, Santa Marta, that's if you don't mind hot weather.

Jamaica: Scotiabank Account:

Greetings from Colombia. I opened a Scotia account this past July and I’m thinking about closing it on my next trip to JA. I am not use to paying monthly banking fees’…even my ATM fees are reimbursable on my stateside accounts for overseas transactions. Can anyone tell me the advantages of having local bank account? I can’t see it.

Colombia: shipping my car from USA to Colombia:

The best thing for you to do is leave your car and if need be buy a old car in Colombia. I am a very skilled driver and I would never drive in Colombia much less bring a new car. I can see it now Gringo prices for maintenance, insurance, etc. Your car under warranty in the US? Will they warranty it if the gas mess up your engine? Accidents who's you think they will blame? Not to mention the reckless driving. People often say on these pages dress like the locals, don't bring attention to yourself…you can throw that out the window sporting a fairly new car. Not trying to sound negative but don't set yourself up to be taken advantage of. Save all that money for taxes and shipping and buy a local car in colombia or take taxis/buses and when necessary rent a van with driver for the day. Just my two cents.

Mexico: DISTILLED WATER REQUIRED,:

Why can't you take any? Pour some in a leak proof container and put it in your checked bags. In reference to the use of tap water. I mean if your told not to drink the water, why would you inhale the bacteria and whatever else up your nose? Couple years ago two deaths were attributed to the use of tap water in neti pots. Although the water was safe to drink, This particular tap water contained amoebas that attacked the victims' brains. The mucous membranes of the sinuses were like an open door for the amoebas (google it). There is more to worry about than simple mineral deposits. Worst case scenario boil the water and let it cool before pouring it into the tank.

Colombia: Black Man And Family Moving To Columbia:

@mawdsjeff , come on there is racism everywhere. During my last 9 trips to Colombia, I always here something new from the "AfroCarribbean Colombians" you talk about. On the flip side, I think it depends on your social class.

Colombia: how r black people treated in colombia:

I been all over Colombia eight times in the last year and I never had anyone stare at me, and those who became my friends said they were fascinated with my style and how I conducted myself.
