Mexico: Classified websites?:
I have had a site specifically about Mexico for 8 years -- www.mexicomike.com. If there is enough interest, I will ad a classified section. "Mexico" Mike.
Mexico: General Information about Mexico:
I got an email of the following post and could not find it. Janice, who was looking for a site with just information about Mexico, but not selling anything (except books, but I don't hit you over the head about it) is mine. There are more than 100 pages of free information about living and traveling, especially by car. I hope it helps someone. "Mexico" Mike. www.mexicomike.com.
Message I was trying to respond to:

Hi--thanks for this great info. Perhaps you can expand on some. My situation is--single mother of three (7,5,3) wanting to move to Mexico soon. FYI, I have custody of the kids and permission from their dad--it's not an ugly situation! I'll need to work, so I'm considering a TESL certificate. Here, I do internet work and would like to be able to continue that, as well, if it's possible. JUST beginning to learn Spanish (speak German and English!).
I had thought I'd drive there, but what you said about bringing a car has me wondering about those rules? What's the best resource for that type of information--visas, requirements for entry, what I can bring, requirements regarding the kids, etc. Of course, I have many questions about cost of living, renting a home, school for the kids, etc., so any references would be great!
Also, any other online resources that people recommend? I find a lot of commercial sites, but not many like this that just provide information. Thanks so much for your time and advice!
Mexico: Auto Insurance?:
I used to write guidebooks for a large Mexican insurance agency. I cannot tell you how many people wish they'd bought insurance. No matter what, get it. mike.
Mexico: Banking in Mexico:
Good information, Vince. Thanks for posting. "Mexico" Mike.
Mexico: Buying a House in Mexico:
Vince, that 6 month or so waiting period before moving to Mexico is sound advice. I've written about living there for 20 years and have always told people to live in a place (as opposed to being a tourist) for at least 6 months before they move.
Housing prices are right on target and that is good advice. mike.
Mexico: Housing costs around Lake Chapala:
I would be very interested to know what your church says that house for $180 is like. My gringo contacts there say that the lowest "modest" house goes for more like $400.
Mexico: Help with book on living in Mexico:
I am "Mexico" Mike and am updating one of my books, "Live Better South of the Border." I'd like to include observations from expats living in different cities. I am willing to pay $50 per city for those who can help. All cities in Mexico are needed. Writing style is not important. Write me at updates@mexicomike.com. Also legal and real estate expertise are needed as separate issues.
Mexico: Many ????? about moving:
Natalie, thanks for the thanks! As far as working, think outside the box. You probably have skills that you could teach to individuals on a personal "off the books" basis. And there is always teaching English. If you should decide to do that, the best, legitimate source of real jobs is from a company run by Mark Farley, whom I personally know, "Teach English In Mexico." website is www.teach-english-mexico.com and Mark's email is info@employnow.com. Good luck, "Mexico" Mike.
Mexico: property rights of a mexican spouse:
Yes, you absolutely can own property in Mexico in your own name. There are some exceptions, like being too close to the coast. The confusion comes from the fact that when buying property is often put into a bank trust for those purchasing coastal property.
Mexico: Moving to Mexico?:
Cetra, I am updating one of my books about living in Mexico soon. You might be a good resource and I will be happy to promote your company. Write to me at mike@mexicomike.com and tell me more about what yoru company does and how they work. mexicomike.
