Netherlands: Scooter traffic offence - Amsterdam:

Hi Ajackqa, You were the one driving, so you are the one they will punish. The rule in the Netherlands is that it is your responsibility that the vehicle you drive is road worthy. Leaving the vehicle at the inpound means the police will sell it after a certain time. Your boss has nothing to do with it, unless there is a court order that they have to pay the police. Any fines you got you will have to pay, did they say anything about what was wrong with it and what fine did you get (other then the scooter taken away)? The stroy is kind of strange this way and it is not the way things normally work in the Netherlands.

Netherlands: Relocation to the netherlands:

I dont think it is strange that you need to know the language to get hired. You want to live and work in the Netherlands then learn the language. Every country wants the highly educated foreigners. Besides companies will have to pay a lot of money to get all the paperwork done, they will not do that for someone that does not have a good education and that is worth it. And yes Dutch people know how to speak english they will however not speak it all the time because you are to lazy to learn the language. It is not that hard to understand if you want to live and work in a country you learn the language, besides if you ask kindly people are willing to switch, but by the look of your comment you are one of those US citizens that thinks the world has to adapt to him instead of he to the world. Why would you want to join such a club, get a job, learn the language!!! and get know people from your street and work and live like all dutch people do.

Netherlands: A Canadian moving to the Netherlands:

Hi Alimdar, Since your boyfriend is an EU citizen he is allowed to work within all EU countries including the Netherlands. For you things are a bit harder, the simplest option is to get married and get a pasport of a European country. Other options are to get a work and travel visum so that you can stay for another year, or you can try and find a job with a company willing to arrange for a work and residence permit. You could also search online for topics on immigrating to the Netherlands, there you might find information on requirements for moving to the Netherlands. good luck, Johan
