Algeria: I'm English and want to study in Bab Ezzouar University - Algeria:
Hi Everyone,
Just stumbled across this forum and thought I'd post my current situation and see the sort of replies I get. I'm an 18 year old student currently studying in the UK and looking to move to Algeria next year. I was going to go University in Bab Ezzouar this year but held back a year to make sure I am fully aware of what is expected of me. I am half Algerian and have lived in Algeria before when I was 16 so I know everything about the culture life and have friends. My main concern is if I'm going to be able to manage university over there? My french is at a decent level and am able to hold a conversation well and write it decently. Another one of my concern is the level of maths and science? I've got 4 AS's and am doing a BTEC Level 3 in Engineering at the moment (I'd live to study Engineering at the University). My friends have been putting me off going over as they keep going on about how hard it is and how I wont cope. I really want some people's opinions and would appreciate any contribution. My plan is to study 3 years in Algeria then carry on my Masters elsewhere in the world. I want to go for the experience as well as the study.
Thanks so much guys and I look forward to hearing from some of you soon!
Algeria: Moving to Algeries in 2013:
Hi,
I'm an 18 year who attended El Kalimat school when I was 16 years old. All I can say is PLEASE do not send your children anywhere near that school. I've been brought up in London my whole life and had the shock of a lifetime when I attended the school. The headteacher was a wreck, speaking appauling English and arriving at 1pm everyday, for the teachers ... well ... all I can say most of them do not speak English and the ones that do DON'T stay too long. I honestly have nothing good to say about the school, this is an opinion from someone who has been there, done that and got the t-shirt, all that you'll gain from sending your children to the school is scaring them for life. Hope all goes well and I'd advise sending her to a french school. I know you said she can't study in french but I learn french at the age of 13 and speak it fluently, it will definitely benefit her in the long run with having another language and the level of the private french schools in Algeria is quite high and respectable. Best Wishes.
Algeria: Lack of social life in Algeria.:
Hi,
I'm mixed English and Algerian and planning to also continue my studies in Algeria. I just wanted to ask how you're finding studying over there? Obviously my mother tongue is English but I do speak and write a reasonable amount of french. I'd really appreciate it if you could get back to me as I'm so so so confused. Also about the social life in Algeria, you need to basically have good friends. I find the company in Algeria makes up for not having much to do. Try to make some good friends and the times you spend with them will surely be memorable (don't forget quality is better than quantity). Look forward to hearing from you soon!
