Argentina: Wedding - San Antonio de Areco:
Hi,
Each province in Argentina has different rules. For example in Cordoba you need to go for a blood test 1 week before the wedding. I have heard that this is not compulsory in Buenos Aires city. You have to submit your Apostilled Unabridged birth certificate, translated and legalized in Spanish, your passport and the DNI or passports of two witnesses. You can make an appointment at the Registro civil and the ceremony normally takes place 30 days afterwards.
Best is to check before the time with the Registro Civil in the city where you want to get married. There is a 30 day waiting period.
Kind regards

Argentina: Immigration Fees for Visas:
Hello,
Congrats on your Retiree visa. Your Visa is only temporary and valid for 1 year. Before the year is over you need to go to Immigration and re-apply. Basically thy want to see that you are still complying to the original terms and conditions when your visa was issued. It is not that much of a problem as long a you still comply. You should get a temporary DNI as well, which is linked to the Visa and valid for 1 year. With this DNI you can do everything like opening a bank account etc. After 2 years your Visa becomes permanent i.e permanent residency and not temporary residency. There is a fee of 40 pesos for the temporary Dni and 600 pesos for the residency visa. It used to be 300 pesos but has gone up in October 2015. The other fees that you paid was probably because you have done it in NYC and that is their charges.
I hope the information helps.

Argentina: Help:
Hi,
We live in the Cordoba Province and 16,000 pesos is not a bad salary. Is the Company providing accommodation for free or at a special rate? Many people are selling cars and you will be able to pick one up for a good price. In my opinion you can live comfortably on 16,000 pesos per month, depending on how you want to live, that is.
Kind regards

Argentina: Aerolíneas Argentinas:
I have flown with Aerolineas Argentinas in March and have missed two connection flights because they didn't fly on time. The customer service of the ground staff was terrible. I will rather fly with LAN. I must add that this was not the first incident with Aerolineas. Very often they are on strike or simply cancel flights.
Argentina: immigration:
Hi,
Argentina has certain requirements to obtain a permanent residency permit. One of the requirements is a Police Clearance Certificate from the country where you have citizenship. If you don't have a criminal record then you shouldn't have problems.
The best thing is to visit the immigration offices in person and enquire what is requiered because they tend to have different rules in different provinces.

Argentina: certify documents:
Hi Jutta,
All documents coming from your country has to be Apostilled. These documents presumably they are in English, then needs to be taken to a Public Translator in Argentina. He/She will then verify the Apostile and translate the documents into Spanish. These translated documents, signed by the Public Translator then needs to go to the Legalizing department where they verify the signature and status of the Public translator. They stamp each document. This procedure applies to all foreign documents. If you are issued with a legal document in Argentina then this procedure does not apply in full.
There is a list available on the Internet with the names and contact numbers of all the Public Translators in Argentina and where they are located.
I hope the information helps.
Kind regards

Argentina: tenant at propertie:
Hi,
Get a lawyer as soon as possible. If a person pays tax for 2 years on a property they can claim the land as their own. You can verify this information with the lawyer. It is extremely difficult to remove squatters or families with children from your home or property in Argentina.

Argentina: criminal record:
Hi,
Once you are in Argentina you will also need to get a criminal record check done here. All your apostilled papers need to be legalized and translated here in Argentina. That includes your police clearance certificate from Spain. To answer your question. I am not sure how strict they are. Given your age they might be more lenient but it also depends agreat deal what is written in your criminal record. The best will be to visit immigration once you have all your documents ready and speak to them. That is the best advice I could give you.
Kind regards

Argentina: Banking Concerns:
I agree with JeryinBA. You cannot open a bank account in Argentina without a DNI. You can try but I don't think you will be successful and this I can speak from experience. I have been living in Argentina for almost 7 years now.
