Does anyone belong to IL as I do. Speaking to some people while I was in Saliones, I didn't get good vibes though one lady was a guest speaker at the Ecuador conference. IL is offering their "Platinum Circle" at a drastic discount only till midnight tonight. Is it worth it.

Ecuador: Local Skype or google number in Ecuador:

We ran into this trouble last month and this month while being down in Chile and Argentina. What we had to do was download Google hangouts, that is what is replacing google talk. Then you can call anywhere in the U.S. or Canada for free. Friends from the U.S. and Canada can call you on your google number, but your computer has to be on, but if your computer isn't on, it will leave a message in google talk.

Ecuador: Places of interest in EC:

There is a leather town NE of Ambato. Is Guano it? If so, what bus do you take from Ambato and where? I've been through Ambato 3 times and each time to a different location to catch a bus to a location I wanted to go. Which they had a good bus station for all locations like Quito, Cuenca, St. Elainas, Gye and etc.

When coming from Miami duty free shop, what is the legal limit of liquor one can bring into Ec. If I buy an extra bottle or two, is there an extra charge at customs when entering Ec.

Susan, you are a mountain of info. Reading this forum for approx a year, I have copied down the many answers you and others have provided and have found it very informative. How do you find all the time to do this and still run a business? I find that cruising the internet very time consuming. I attended your and Kevin's beach/pool party in Feb. I plan to return to Ecuador next year. One month was not long enough-had a great time and met a lot of nice people. Got to know the bus system somewhat with the help of you expats. Stick together and help each other.

Ecuador: One dollar bills:

In Canada, the $1 dollar bill was replaced with the loonie, and the $2 bill was replaced with the toonie. Last year, Canada has eliminated the 1 cent coin. If the price ends in 1,2,6 or 7 the price is lowered to 0 or 5 and if it ends in 3, 4, 8 or 9, it is raised to 5 or 0. Great. What's next?

Ecuador: washing fruits and veggies:

As I read in earlier post, vinegar is great for hundreds of things from washing windows, kill weeds,a cup in dishwasher every 6 month's cleans soap residue and etc. I also use potassium metabisulphate. We Canadians use it for disinfecting all utensils, grape must , bottles and etc. in wine making which is really big in Canada because all liquor is terribly expensivel.
