Paraguay: Short-Term Rental in Asuncion:

Hi Robert, You will easily be able to find accommodations in Asuncion for less than USD$1000 per month and unless you are fluent in Spanish Clasipar is a great resource but can be an absolute scorn if you mes up. PM me and I can send you the contact for the person I use personally to help me find such things when I am in Asuncion, cheers!

Paraguay: Gold:

of course it's ok, I would assume you are taking American Eagle gold coins as they are the easiest to pass through your carry ons which is how I take mine. I wouldn't bring any more than 5 coins at a time. Precious metals trades in PGY are generally more difficult since it is not looked upon the same way it is in most of the western world. Precious metals int he form of jewelry is slightly more common and the exchange rates I've seen when I've been there don't get me all that excited. But if you are bringing your gold to store there "just in case" then by all means, no worries.

Paraguay: Halloween Events for Expats in Paraguay:

dang, saw this too late, but there was alot going on throughout Asuncion....

Paraguay: Relocation&Cost of Living:

arthow I know expats living in downtown for USD$200 per month to some living in the Carmelitas areas for about USD$800 in an apartment. Not sure what your budget is but finding a great local friend to help you with your search will be beneficial. You might want to consider shacking up at a local Hostel or check Airbnb.com for short terms (beginner) accommodations for a month or 2 until you get your bearings and then find something a bit longer term. This is what we advise our clients to do and it has worked wonderfully so far, no complaints outside of some real shady landlords to look out for.

Paraguay: Apostilles?:

Yes, Apostilles will be needed, and your ivorce decree will need to be legalized at the PGYan embassy. Even though PGY did not ratify the Hague convention standard practice seems to make it easier for your documents to go through the process.

Paraguay: anyone experienced teaching english in paraguay?:

I have worked with DivaEnApuros for tours in Asuncion, Spanish lessons and translation services, she is smart, kind and very patient. I'd highly recommend using her for any of these services while in Asuncion

Paraguay: Best Place to Retire in Paraguay?:

Wow there is sooo much to type on this one. If you like"city" living then Asuncion is the place to be. It's the smallest and quietest capital city you will ever visit. Would love to help you out more let us know what you might need

Paraguay: Hi!:

Klinkster, wow I found this thread on a google search. Yes we facilitate residency and relocation services and would welcome your business and would encourage you to comment on them here in the future. Also majbjb has a point about the slick websites and you probably could do the residency process yourself with a bit of wasted time and runaround. It's certainly possible, just as you could see a city by yourself or pay a guide to get the local treatment and extra goodies, that's an individual choice. We hope the best for you and your search for freedom and liberty.
