Awalles, No, they do not sell queen size beds in Colombia. They sell a "Matrmonial" size that is a tad smaller, more like a full in the states. The common sizes are 100 x 190, 140 x 190 and 200 x 200 all in metric. I make furniture, beautifull both oak and teak beds and more and also sell a variety if mattresses. I have a furniture store, here is my Christmas Comercial: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=0cYls_yWwIM I can set you up with what ever you need and send it direct to your apt. Martin

Colombia: Jewish Population:

Fredah, you will find that Colombian Jews are much different than American Jews. Not nearly as open and welcoming. Several times I have wanted to attend Shabbat servicea, only to be told no. A very closed group. Judaism is a religion, a Jew is part of the Jewish race. In my opinion. A large percentage of Jews I know are agnostic, and that comming from a part time, a long time ago congressional leader. When we do not know, we fill the gaps with our own assumptions. Nothing wrong with that, it is how we get from morning to night. Martin

Hello Zeila and welcome to our forum The best answer I can give you is, yes. What ever should happen to you, whatever treatment you need is free to all tourist. Compliments of Salud Total...... As far as your tourist visa, upon entry you will get up to 60 days and if you want to stay longer, just show your passport to any police oficer and they can give you as much time as you like. The best bank to use is obviously BanColombia. They are very friendly and helpfull. Just show your passport and what ever bank or credit card you want to use. They will be happy to give you the best daily rate and some times a 5% bonus if they really need dollars that day. I think they can change up to $5,000 dollars a day with no paperwork, just sign and go. Enjoy your vacation and please do not be shy about asking anything you need. Martin

Colombia: Colombian oddities:

Repost from last year: As a topic of discussion, one of the things I find difficult about living in Colombia. The lack of diversity in foods available. The complete lack of interest by most Colombians to try new foods. The monotony of eating huevos, queso and arepa, day after day after day, month after month. Most colombians I have met, and that is a considerable amont, do not know how to cook. They are experts in making food hot, but know nothing about the science of cooking. They have no interest in trying new things or different flavors. Anything that is not bland, salty and over cooked is "Picante" and they will not eat. Sancocho = chicken soup with an old rooster Ajijaco = more chicken soup Tamale = greazy fat soaked corn meal with yuk inside Bisteak = beef jerky Pollo gisado = chicken stew arepa = dry tastless corn or flour patty bandeja pisa = sicario by heart attack empanadas - not bad for fried corn meal wraped somthing pasta -start with the pasta in cold water and boil untill almost mush Am I missing anything? What else is there.
