Panama: Exploring with hopes to move:

Just an observation. Just returned from a 10 day trip to Panama. El Valle, (too far from the beach), Playa Uverito at Las Tablas, (filthy beach and water), Penonome (too far from the water), Playa del Mar, (beautiful black and white sand beach, good surf break, clean, lite green water. Manglar Lodge, at Playa del Mar, was very good, staff very good with some English, very good food. At Playa Uverito, stayed at a B&B. Being naïve about B&Bs I didn't realize I would be walking through someones living areas to reach my room. Not my cup of tea. This being my third trip to Panama, I found many locals are not friendly unless they are selling you something and in the "city", drivers are extremely rude. Contrary to some comments on this forum, I walked the streets in the evenings in my shorts, straw hat, and Crocs and had no problems. Maybe my "expensive" $12 Casio watch didn't interest them or perhaps being 6' 4" 250 lbs made a difference. Looked like I just stepped off my boat. Anyway, I guess since I don't like dealing with other Gringos more than necessary, need to be close to clean ocean water, I'll continue looking for my "Eden".

Panama: Moving to El Valle Panama:

I read somewhere on this forum, that Mark hosts a daily get together at a place called Tys.

re: food in Panama. Someone stated the food in Panama is more or less bland. Are onions, cilantro, jalapenos, tomatos available? Pico de gallo. Avacados? Guacamole. If the soil in your area isn't conducive to growing, take a couple of 5 gallon buckets, get some "good" dirt from panamajames back yard, and grow your own stuff.

Panama: Crime in panama:

If I was a local, bent on commiting a crime, I wouldn't steal from mi amigo, I'd head to a gated community full of rich gringos. After all, they drive nice cars, can afford to play golf, and hang out with each other. ( I missed ya, Princess.) jyd

Panama: Aguadulce:

pj. How hot is hot? Also, humidity? What's the average humidity/dewpoint? Since you are from Canada, your perception may be skewed. Give me some numbers, please.

Nystp. re: PJ. You have to remember, panamajames has a vested interest in Boquete. He has rentals there and seems to be a Big Shot in the community. He is the "Go To Guy" for all the other Canadians living in the area.

Belize: Bringing a car to Belize:

Babs. This sounds as if you are just visiting. Does this all hold true if you are passing through country to live in BZ? re: the $400 bond. Can you get your bond back at any border crossing, for example leaving Chetumal entering BZ?
