Some Forum Posts:

Philippines: Cebu Handiman:

I just moved into a new condo which hasn't had much TLC. I am trying to find a good handiman who can fix taps, change shower heads, paint, et al. If you know of anyone please send me a private note. Thanks for your help.

Philippines: Opening a Bank Account:

I live in Cebu next to Ayala. I arrived in August and had the same problem. I couldn't open an account until I had my ACR and I tried both banks you mention with no success. I have my ACR card btw even though it says TOURIST they still opened the account at BPI...

Philippines: Air Quality?:

I left Bali due to pollution from active volcanoes in Java which just about killed me. Went to Manila which is also very polluted. Not a smart choice. I have ended up in Cebu City which has been great with no issues at all. Of course a small town like say Dumaguete would be even better for air quality but I just love Cebu for many reasons beyond air pollution which does not seem to be an issue here as far as I am concerned... Just saying...

Philippines: What is a good business opportunity?:

There are online businesses you can become involved with with very little outlay of cash and very low risk. I've become involved with two of them which have been successful to date. In effect everything is offshore so not considered as employment under local laws. The tax liability is back in my country of origin which is fine by me as they are paying me a pension. For one business this requires a tax or SSN number. For the second business this is not required. If you wish further information please drop me a private email. BTW neither is involved in insurance or mutual funds, etc.

Philippines: Expats Career:

I have found a way to make an income online which does not contravene any employment laws of the Philippines. I just started and it looks good.... Very above board....and not insurance or mutual funds... If you know a lot of Canadian and expats anywhere in Asia you can quickly be up and running offering an excellent service. If you are interested please contact me privately on bwhuntley@yahoo.com....

Philippines: Selling Online Services--Is that considered working in the Philippines?:

I have a company registered in Australia and Canada involved with services over the internet. It could have clients whom live in the Philippines (but all expats) and no money paid into the Philippines. If I was living in the Philippines would that be considered as "employment" under Philippines law if I had semi retired to the Philippines?

Philippines: No Stocks, Im losing it:

I had my prescription drugs sent from my pharmacist in Australia. I've also ordered items online from online pharmacies. Todate I have not had any problems with delivery to my address in Cebu.

Philippines: Do you like...:

OMG I think you mean Indonesia!! Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls let me tell you the Philippines is a cake walk compared with say Indonesia where few speak English, hate non Muslims and see all foreigners as sheep to be shorn.... The only country that "works" in Asia is Singapore but take LOTS of money and be prepared to meet the most anal retentive people on earth .... And yes I have lived all over Asia for the past 40 years and choose the Philippines to retire to as my best choice ??

Philippines: Daluguete:

I was all excited about Dumaguete and went there last week with the intention of finding a place for a year. I agree with Chance2013.....I think it would quickly wear on me. Interesting all the landlords talked about power cuts "now and then"... I have come back to Cebu and the more I am here the more I really am liking it... It's NOT a Manila and you can ferry or fly out to so many places when I want to get away...like Bohol this week... That has been my experience :)

Philippines: Land Title Transfer:

If one buys a block of land from a major developer and pays cash what would be a reasonable period of time would one have to wait to have clear title to the land (just land)? Does 15 months sound reasonable? Any advise is appreciated :)
