Belgium: How to import a (non-EU) car in Belgium from USA:

I wish someone had posted this about three years ago. I have a car sitting and rotting in my driveway here in BE due to the A. complexity, and B. the ridiculous expense of having it registered, made drivable, insured and such. Good on ya for making it happen. AjH

Belgium: Urgent advice pls:

Three of you on 2500€ is not going to cut it in Brussels. I'm also expecting that you'll find that this is your net pay, not your take-home, in which case, lop off 50% for taxes. 1250€ a month is not livable here, pure and simple. I live in a very small town in a small house and, even with the pay of my wife, things are tight. Cost of food is about 30-60% higher than the US, housing may be a bit less but it very much depends on where and what you get. Utilities are outrageously expensive [electricity is about 4x what I paid in SF, gas 3X, and H2O 3x...]. Renegotiate if you're able. AjH PS: Health insurance is a bit of a joke, too... Don't bet on saving if you have any health issues and the red tape can be very tough.
