Saudi Arabia: Saudi Arabia or Bahrain - best choice?:

Hello to you all out there, I have been offered a job in Saudi Arabia. The client I could work for is based in Jubail. I have been told that I could consider a couple of options regarding housing: 1. Jubail - small expat community; 2. Al Khobar - larger expat community; Both these options though mean living in a more restricted country. 3. Bahrain - more liberal, but the big disadvantage of having to commute over a great distance. I was wondering what the best choice might be. Does anyone have experience with commuting between Bahrain or Al Kobhar and Jubail? Is this possible considering the distance, and how long would such trips take? Considering the present situation, might it be safer to reside in Bahrain instead of Saudi Arabia itself? And what about the quality of life in general comparing Bahrain with Saudi Arabia? Taking into account that I, as a 35 y/o Dutch male I will be going alone to over there, what would be the best location in terms of social life etc.? Thank you so much for your help! Gijs
