Cambodia: is apathy a tropical disease?:
I've been here over a year now, but live in a small province. I own a hotel and try to post regular business related updates on our FB page. But I don't think of aspects of my expat experience that would be of importance to those who choose the more expat dense locations. I am happy to comment on other posts.
Cambodia: Here I come!:
Can't help with PP, but if you visit Kratie, we've recently opened a western style boutique hotel with swimming pool and good rates. We provide free pick-ups and shuttle to river and market. Visit our website www.riverdolphinhotel.com for more info. Good Luck! Rick
Cambodia: Getting a Business Visa:
I obtained my business visa from the Cambodian Embassy in Washington DC before traveling to Cambodia. It took about 2 weeks.
Cambodia: Getting a Cambodia visa from Bangkok ?:
You can obtain an e-visa for Cambodia online and receive it by email. The Cambodia e-visa website will have information about the processing time. Else you can obtain a visa when you arrive at Phnom Penh or Siem Reap airports, but you will need a passport type photo.
Cambodia: marketing my hotel in Cambodia:
I am building a hotel in Kratie, so will have the same challenge. I would like to know what partners you wind up using. For personal travel in Asia I like Agoda, Hotel Quickly, and Check In Tonight.
Cambodia: Cambodia Visa Scam:
I obtained a 3-month business visa before traveling to Phnom Penh mid July. The visa expiration was listed as Sept 10th. I just extended my visa for a year and was told by immigration that I had overstayed my visa by 16 days @$5 per day. The agent says everyone entering the country gets only 30 days of visa coverage, even though the visa obtained in the US said it expired Sept 10th. They just don't tell you that when they stamp your passport at the airport!
Cambodia: Adventure Begins:
In July I am moving to Kratie to build a guesthouse with a Khmer friend. I recently retired from my government healthcare consulting job in the US, so this is a completely new career for me, and my first experience running a business. Once I get some on the ground experience I will share and probably have some questions for other expats residing in Cambodia.
