Italy: Moving to Italy to retire 2013:

Hello! im an Australian living for years in the USA - currently Charleston SC and I want to retire to Italy this year. I don't want a boring quiet town, but i also dont want Florence and the noise and tourists. Also most important, renting an apartment [for one] on a small budget! must be near transit, i looking forward to ditching the SUV Any ideas I would so appreciate! Would also love to hear from anyone who might like to form a small group of us heading in the same direction!?
