Sri Lanka: Moving to Sri Lanka With Kids?:

Sorry if this is a duplicate but I think I messed up my first post. Anyway, my husband and I are looking to expat from the US while I finish my schooling. We have a family friend from Sri Lanka and they suggested we look to go there. We have 3 kids age 14 (girl), 6 (boy), and 3 (girl). So, I have a few questions if you can help. 1. Can we live decently on our budget of $3000 US/month? 2. Is the area safe for our children? 3. Do we need to worry about how we dress/kids dress? 4. We know we would need to leave at least every 6 months...any other visa worries? 5. Can we drink the water? Anything else we didn't think of? Thanks for your help. Amber

My husband and I are trying to find a country to expat to from USA that will allow us to live rather cheaply while I finish my schooling. We have some family friends that are Sri Lankan and they suggested Sri Lanka for a place to go. We would be living there with our 3 kids, age 14, 6, and 3. We plan to homeschool unless the local school system is stellar. 1. Would our budget of about $3000/month US be enough? 2. Will it be a safe environment for our 3 kids? 3. Would we have trouble staying for the full 3 years I need? We understand it is likely we would need to leave the country every 6 months. Mostly we are worried about the kids, safety, budget and visa requirements. Thanks for your help! Amber
