Egypt: Cairo Apartment setups?:
Quick question: Since I've never rented an apartment in Cairo before, I was wondering what usually came standard in a typical Garden City apartment. Do I arrange for utilities, gas, telephone, internet to be hooked up or do apartments normally have all amenites on.
What about internet hookup? Is high speed internet common in apartments common or regular dial up? Complicated to set up?
Thank you, in advance, for your advice. :)

Egypt: New Cairo Rent Law?:
In viewing the different apartments in Cairo via edar.com, I've noticed that some apartments are under the "new rental law" and some are not. Does anyone know what the new rental law of Cairo is and how it differs from the old law?
Thank you!!!

Egypt: Garden City vs. Downtown:
hello,
Is there a difference between the Garden City district and the Downtown district? I want to live near American University in Cairo and I wondered which area was better.
I earlier posted that I wanted to live in Maadi, but I mean Garden City or Downtown. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to find a real estate agent in order to an apartment in December? Does anyone know a great Garden City real estate agent?
Thank you,
Michelle
Egypt: Maadi Apartment search...:
Hello,
I am moving to Cairo in December 2004 and I will looking for an apartment in Maadi.
Does anyone think I can find an apartment in Maadi (1-2 bedroom) for $400-500? If so, what kind of apartment do you think it would be in terms of conveniences?
I'll be attending American University in Cairo...is that considered to be located in the Maadi area?
Thank you so very much for your help.

Egypt: Cairo Apartment Hunting:
Greetings everyone! I was supposed to be moving to Cairo next month, but due to my work schedule...I've had to postpone my move until December 2004.
So, I will be arriving in Cairo on December 27th or 28th and was wondering if I'll have a hard time finding an apartment during the holiday (New Years Eve).
Also, does anyone know of a great Maadi real estate agent who can help me find an apartment in Maadi? Or any real estate agent who works the apartments in Maadi....
Thank you so much for your help!!! :)
Sincerely,
Michelle
Egypt: Dating in Cairo:
I am a single woman moving to Cairo next year. I've heard a number of "rumors" about dating rules in Cairo. Since, I'm from the USA, I'm used to dating freely without consequences. Does anyone have experience or suggestions on how to date in Cairo. Now, remember I said DATE in Cairo...not sleep my way through Cairo. :)

Egypt: Roadtrip: Cairo to Libya!:
I'm looking at a map of Cairo and I noticed that a good size road (I think it is motorway 55) runs from Alexandria to the Libyan border. Has anyone ventured to Libya or close to Libya on this route? Are there any other well-traveled roads to Libya?
Also, I want to sincerely thank everyone for their great advice and insights. Thank you!
