Guatemala: From Guate to US driving through Mexico:

Your advise makes the most sence. .I dont even fly through the US Airports I go through Panama or El Salvador to Guate.Trying to take a car through ?? Carumba!!.My advise. Take the car to the US border.park it in Mexico. Cross the border and rent a car in US.Then reverse the when returning.Your Guate Car is good for 90days in Mexico .JMHO

All I know is when I inquired about it I was tols that it is better to just buy a vehicle in Guate and avoid all the hastle.

ATM machine at Dispensa Famaliar did not dispence the Q2000 at the end of the transaction. The money did come out of my account., however.When I went to Bank Industrial to fix the problem, I was practically shunned. I returned three times. All they would say was for me to contact my bank. Guatemala: Adopting a child:

Hello Back in 1996 when we adopted my daughter there were a lot of rumours floating about.We were ripped off by the agency who is no longer in business.It took one year an over $30, 00.00 Can. Before we finally had her .Once they had uson the tredmill they just kept adding expenses.My daughter is 18 now and of couse we would never put an amount on her. It is just a shame that they take advantage.My suggestion is to have a solid written contract not allowing for any additional cost.Shortly after our adoption it was halted.I live in Guatemala half the year at a time.Expats do a lot to help families on a one to one basis.I feel that our contribution go farther that way , rather than having money filtered through some grubby greedy so called charity. JMHO...PROUD Dad to a just graduated daughter.

Guatemala: conditions in Guatemala:

To clear things up. My family and friends all give me warnings about being robbed in Guatemala and that it is not safe bla bla bla......Well I moved to Lake Atitlan area. It is a magical place. The people are sweet and gentle.I have never felt more safe. Now the kicker..I come home to Canada for Christmas. I went to dig out my snow covered car. All 4 wheels were gone and the car sat on blocks. Ironically I had to go to Montreal to get robbed.. Come to Guatemal.Enjoy life

Also on Saturdays from noon til 4pm at La Palapa American Bar in Panajachel(Santandar and principal) Just look for the smoke. Always a fun afternoon and you cannot eat all they give you.
