Panama: National Migration System offers new online service:

"Since Monday, March 27, the National Migration Service (SNM) of Panama has made available two new online services so that interested parties can take the first steps to regularize their immigration status without having to go to one of the Migration Offices. This new service includes applications for immigration status and foreign pre-registration as well as naturalization and regular and authorized visa services which were already available. With this new system applicants can apply for an immigration status request from home and will only have to go to the immigration institution at the time of payment and subsequent collection of the status. In the case of applications for foreign pre registration with this method interested party will be able to enter their data in the migration system so that when they visit the facilities of the SNM to formalize the registration the procedure will take considerably less time. Another benefit of this new system is that foreign residents can request an appointment for renewal of the provisional immigration ID from the same website. These new services come after a month of reorganization in the SNM making such changes as the reduction to 3 months of stay in the country for those who enter as a tourist in addition to having to stay a month abroad before re-entering Panama These services are available to the general public on the website of the Nationalo Migration System www.Migracion.gob.pa." El Visitante April 5th. I viewed the site and it is in Spanish. Also it mentions that this is now the new law revoking the old one. As we have mentioned before every day there is a new law. Let's see how long this one will stay.

Panama: Buying Cellphone on Visit to Panama:

This is one of the things I love about Pty. The freedom to pick your celphone provider or just buy a card in any supermarket. In the US companies take advantage. I know of a friend who had to call customer service several times, also walk into the store to be able to port her number to another company. Perhaps Movistar should go to US or Mas Movil.

Panama: New requirement when leaving Panama:

Panama: Health Clinic in PTY ?:

Could you be specific as to what do you required? If you have a cold or need an injection or something general there is a MediMed Clinic newly opened in Calle 50 same area as Pizza Hut and Subway. Also there is a big Clinic "Royal Center" across from Paitilla Hospital with many specialists.

Panama: Advise and Info Welcome:

If you are married with a Panamanian citizen you will need a Visa to stay in the country or travel every 90 days or every 180 days. Married to a Panamanian Visa takes 2-3 years unless you know anyone in Migracion. The easiest one is the "jubilado visa". Married to a Panamanian does not give you any special treatment. At least for now. Remember the laws here changes every day. Read the "stay at home Gringo" he is married to a Panamanian.

Panama: Anyone heard about this accident?:

A Tourism Taxi driver was killed and two Canadians are injured. I just heard this during a social gathering yesterday and looked in the newspaper. It looks like the Canadians were carrying 40K. It is not mentioned if they declared it or not but family of the Taxi driver killed said that all the people in Aduanas at airport should be replaced. I guess they think it has something to do with people working there. This happened on the way to Colon in Corredor Norte. (I was told).

Panama: Purchasing Property in Panama:

@ anissarb Agree with PanamaJack's advise. Rent, Rent, Rent. That will allow you to see if you really like it here and give you time to check the areas you are interested. Panama banks do check your credit reports from the US but it is not easy to open a bank account now. I live in the city & if I can help with any info please PM. Reminder there is no MLS in Panama. Realtors show you only very limited places. You need to have 2 or 3 realtors. Always give them a price that is not your top one and negotiate, negotiate, negotiate. You will get the "gringo" price - meaning more than a Panamanian will pay for same place.

Panama: Non-US residents, visitors/tourists, etc........any problems at the borders?:

@ Expatpanama2016 This is a Phorum about moving, and living in the Republic of Panama......not about US politics. And to answer your question there has been no problems for people crossing the border at Paso Canoas or flying out of Tocumen or any other airport in Panama. Everyone is celebrating Carnivals and enjoying life. thank you.

Panama: 63 Year=Old Woman:

@cagirl 2017 Have you visited Panama? Before you make any decision you should come and visit and rent a place near the beach for @ least 6 months. Make sure is a gated community or a building with a security guard. Beach Areas in the Pacific side Coronado, Gorgona, Punta Barco, Santa Clara, Farallon. etc. It all depends whats your lifestyle. Coronado is full of expats other places are more quiet and some very very quiet. Do not buy only rent until you are completely sure this is the place you want to stay more than 5 years at least. Also if you speak Spanish it might be easier if not you should start practicing it does make a difference. Cheers.

Panama: Are pet dogs allowed on beaches in Panama?:

Agree with Ricobreeze and unfortunately the owners do not clean after their pets....Yuk. I include expats. Have seen it in Coronado.
