Italy: Looking for place to stay in Southern Italy:

I'm looking for a rental property in Southern Italy. Is there a website that you advise? Thank you.

Italy: Required income for retiring to Italy:

I disclosed my monthly income (how much I expected to spend) and generally bank account amounts to my consulate, and received email confirmation that this would do. I'd have trouble spending $4k unless I was in Milan! The country trumps the eu in this case, I believe.

Italy: Visa Issues:

Is there a reliable company to guide me through visa issues? I want to move to Italy for about a year, and I may want to then move to Spain. I could go as a retired person, but I'd really like a work option in order to have something to do. Frankly, the hardest part of visas now is that it would be easier to go to D.C. than the Detroit consulate that serves Ohio, but that's a no go. This visa stuff is delaying progress. Any thoughts?

Italy: Want to move to Italy:

Please, please, tell me what that means! I am in constant contact with the Detroit consulate. Despite my pasting the language from the Embassy website and sending it to them, they tell me that I can either stay 90 days or less OR have a lease before I go. I have foreign family members with residency permits, so it looks like I qualify.

Italy: Moving in 3-4 yrs to Frazzano,Sicily from USA...Advice?:

My grandchildren are Americans in Italy. Although there are differences in rules, teach him soccer starting now. By 8 most boys have a favorite soccer team, so a good 'car game' now might be the teams and their geographical areas in Italy. I noticed that there's a huge difference in mothering. We might call it smothering, yet physical fighting isn't cause for too much alarm there. There's not much to do to prepare for that, but just don't be too shocked when you see it or experience it. Good luck from an Ohio person who is trying to get over there without the benefit of a native!

Italy: Medical Insurance Revisited:

1. Are you a dual citizen? I don't see how you can avail yourself of the Italian system except with your own insurance. I'd love to know that one, as I'm struggling with the new US insurance because of travel reasons. 2. I believe that you should check my work, but you aren't subject to the fine if you will be out of the US for more than 3 months. 3. If it were me, I'd use travel health insurance or get a commitment from credit card companies that their travel insurance would cover me. I don't think that US credit card companies anticipate your (our I hope) situations.

Italy: Trying to sell our house in Italy:

Isn't it true that you can list your house with multiple agents in Italy? By the way, a detailed description of what to do when you buy would be grand. Good luck (I'm looking for Southern Italy only - sorry)

Italy: Visa:

I looked at the Italian Embassy site. My 'person' is really just a Yahoo email address. Is that really where one turns for the forms, etc.?
