Panama: Gated Comunities:
Are there home invasions in gated communities? I believe that being aware of one's surroundings make a huge difference among several safety precautions one ought to observe anywhere. Getting information from forums such as this one is invaluable. I do not and would not minimize safety precautions wherever I go. However the blow by blow descriptions of crime certainly makes one who is considering a move to that place take a looooong look at wanting to go there. Guys....what is commendable where you live? Something must be because you still live there. I want to know those things also....not only what is despicable there. Language is more that curse words....you become friends with those who cuss...soon you will be cussing too. Please tell me more about Chiriqui...and gated communities there...Coco Beach, etc. I am still strongly considering Panama despite really liking Cabo. I still come back to Panama.....looking at another place. Enough of the dirt about Panama crime...anything commendable to keep you staying there. It may bring me there to stay also.
Panama: Bocas Del Toro:
Greetings! I am interested in learning a bit more about living in Panama. I visited Coronado but not quite satisified. Any help with places like Bocas Del Toro or Los Islotes at the Azuera Peninsula. I like Panama despite Cabo calling. Still haven't found a suitable location in Panama. Thanks for your help in my search. I know I will make the final decision but I just need your help with places I might not have considered which might meet my need. Again, thank you for your input.
Portugal: Potential places to live:
Where would I find Julie Dawn Fox's blog? Interested in reading her posts about the towns mentioned. Thank you.
Belize: so many questions:
Most countries offer the freedom of speech. but for some people the mere exercise of that freedom is an abuse of it. I hope that was not the intent here. I believe that personal perceptions are your realities...which may or not be the true reality. Therefore trying to convince someone against their opinion will result in them holding their opinion still. The discussion about one country being superior to another seems to be an exercise in futility. People are not ignorant of the dangers in any country...but there is excitement in the decision to move. When the discussion centers around personal preferences...it loses the intent of the exercise....educate, educate, educate...and let others make their own decisions. Again, your perceptions are your realities....not mine....as you made yours...let me make mine. CIAO!
Belize: Thinking about moving to Belize in about 4-5 years:
Thanks, guys! I did mine a few nuggets from your lively, though sarcastic, banter. I am considering a visit to Belize...Corozal and Placencia. What's the living like in these areas...medical, real estate, shopping, recreation? These would interest me very much and I would appreciate objective answers. Personal realities are welcomed if they are truly factual...just the facts, fellas, just the facts. People relocate all the time and for various reasons. With objective information searchers will decide whether to come or stay where they presently call home. So, guys help us searchers by giving us factual information...not isolated incidents you personally may have been unfortunate to experience. Was and is that experience the norm? Incidentally, I have never lived in a place for more than five years...my last was 11, my present is 9 and counting. However, I will never badmouth where I have lived. Was I disgruntled and left? Not by a long shot, I just wanted to move on. Excited about what's next. Will it be Placencia or Corozal...I need some hard facts to decide....not subjective appraisals. Thanks for your future objective posts.
Panama: Ex-Pat Unrest:
Pollokeeper, I read this forum from time to time because I was once interested in living in Panama. I have read some very informative and helpful posts. However, seems like you and some others forget that "freedom of speech is a right but for some people just the mere expression of that freedom is an abuse of it." You are the moderator of an 'unstructured forum that disregards common courtesy' as freedom of expression. What a pity. The freedom 'discourteous and disrespectful' that you are encouraging, you are also disregarding by telling off those who express a differing point of view. Is decency a lost art of your forum? I cringe as I await your response...which might say that you utterly miss the point of this post.
Panama: Name Calling:
It is interesting that psychologists say that people operate as either adults, parents or children. It is very evident on this forum that they are right. You post determine which of these operational stances you are using. Accept the consequence of that choice and do not defend parent or child behavior by blaming others for that choice. Adults respect and treat others in responsible ways, parents take charge and discipline, children whine and blames others. Finally, the American constitution guarantees freedom of speech to everyone, however, for some people, the mere expression of that freedom is an abuse of it. Anger, sarcasm and ridicule have no place on this forum. Choose the responsibility of adulthood as the modus d' operandi in this forum. Thanks for the informative posts that mean so much to many of us.
Mexico: La Paz forum?:
Greetings! I am also very interested in information about the Los Cabos, La Paz area. Very interested in relocating there. Thanks to any expat in these areas for any information about life in these areas.
Panama: More robberies in Coronado:
MaryAnnR. Reread your posts. You either are not carefully reading Panamaguy's posts. Empathy truly is wonderful to possess. Lighten up and be objective, it certainly beats oneupmanship. I thank this forum for mostly objective reports on expat living that impacting my decision to only vacation abroad rather than residing permanently. I am not mimimizing crime anywhere but having traveled extensively, the US is truly a God-blessed land. As previously mentioned, life may be deteriorating and atrocities may be escalating, but the USA..despite its bombardment by disgruntleds, still remain the choice of many. citizen. Let objectivity and decency pervade our posts.
Mexico: seeking single mother wanting to relocate:
Easy, Easy, Easy. I believe that I understand what 108endless was trying to say. Conditions in the USA, a first world country, is not idealistic; yet some expatriates expect to find that in a third world country. When it is not found there is a morbid desire by a torrent of the vitriolic rants about the host country...its people and lifestyle. If the country fails to live up to your expectations simple return to your country and be wiser for the experience. People like me who are looking for realistic posts to make an informed decision on relocation overseas do not need personal perceptions....just the facts. Let us make our own personal perceptions. Save the insults...its never ever respectful or necessary.
