Brazil: NATIONWIDE PROTESTS:

I live in Sao Paulo and can report that the protests are 95% peaceful. I actually participated in a protest on Av. Paulista and had chills as the crowd sund that national anthem! Finally this repressed population has found a voice. From a practical point of view the protests have made the already horrific traffic even worst. I also spent 3 hours trapped in the international airport upon a Friday return to Brazil. If coming to Brazil best to check twitter for upcoming protests. Try #protestbrazil. No trouble for expats!!

Brazil: Delinquency in Rio de Janeiro:

HI, I am an American and have been living in Sao Paulo for 14 years. I visit Rio at least once a month an business, for 2-3 days and have vacationed in Rio a number of times. I do not feel safe in Rio. If you have never lived here and are a middle class American it is impossible to understand the poverty and desperate conditions that are the reality of Brazil. The shear size of Rio's population is daunting and now with the public rightfully protesting I cannot recommend it.
