Ecuador Welcome Forum: Where to stay in Quito, historic area ?:

You will be closer to the main bus station if you stay in the historic center. As far as a hotel goes, it depends on your budget. There are luxury 5 star hotels as well as budget properties. Right outside the city center there are also nice hotels, reasonably priced.

Just checked their site locator for you. There is no full service branch in Vilcabamba, just the "MI Vecino" service in various tiendas.

You won't need a realtor. Lots of signs on buildings here on Gonzalez Suarez. There is a brand new building next to mine with apartments for rent. I also have a friend who just moved and is looking to rent his apartment. Send me a pm if you wish.

Loja is considered to be the cleanest city in Ecuador. Was there for 4 days last year. I was really impressed with the city.

Ecuador: Earthquake near Quito:

Last night at about 1120PM. There was an earthquake, epicenter in Puembo, which is near the Quito airport. 4.7 on Richter scale. According to the newspaper, El Comercio, proceedings in the National Assembly were suspended today because of damage yo the assembly building.

Ecuador: Gringo Restaurant Northern Coast:

95% Ecuadorian food because we are in Ecuador. Personally, I think if people wanted gringo food they would cook it themselves at home. Why would anyone come to Ecuador to eat gringo food?
