Panama: Panama in a week:
Since you say "we want to visit Boquette." AND "We also want to see the ocean" . . . I think. . . your best bet is to rent a car and drive the 4.5 - 5 hours to Boquete, as your home base. From there you hike up Volcan Baru and "see" BOTH oceans ! But also, you have a FEW beach choices...one I can suggest is Coconut Beach Community, on the way to Puerto Armuelles (1.5 hrs. from Boquete) Check out www.CoconutBeachCommunity.com
Panama: coming to Panama-suggestions please:
I think I may be of some assistance, having lived in VARIOUS places in Chiriquí and having discovered what many people call "The BEST BEACH on Panama's Pacific Coast in Chiriquí" a.k.a. Coconut Beach Community(.com)
But I would prefer communicating directly...you can send me a message through that website and I'll share with you everything I know of this area...AND...everything I'VE learned in Central America to get me to this place...

Re: "We both want to relocate on the water in Panama"... check out www.CoconutBeachCommunity.com for a truly beautiful beach, at excellent prices which will be a tremendous investment !
Panama: Relocate from Aruba to Panama:
Hola Tom & Stanley !
Without getting into a debate re: some of the comments already shared (obviously when you ask questions on a forum like this, you can expect lots of opinions).
I only wanted to say, that after years of traveling throughout Central America and living in various places to "check it out" . . . I've chosen Chiriqui Province for LOTS of reasons.
AND if you'd like to consider a beautiful beach living option, check out www.CoconutBeachCommunity.com

Panama: Thinking of retiring to Panama:
I did !
Sure it can "work". Better than the other way around !
But either way, I've rented out lots of properties (that I owned) here AND in the states with very few problems (knock on wood) ... AND I've managed properties in both places.
For me, (and I emphasize that), I have come to appreciate "community developments" over the last few years of living in various parts of Central America. Because you can LEAVE ! And there are even some that can RENT & manage your property FOR YOU when you're gone ! It's really wonderful, worry-free and even profitable !! One good option for this -- IF you'd like to live near a beautiful beach -- is Coconut Beach Community (.com) Check it out...
Panama: Chiriquí Province, THE Choice !:
I just want to remind people who are looking at Panamá as a possible new home...
Chiriquí Province is becoming the "preferred Paradise" for many !
From the highest point in the country, where you can see both oceans, to some of the best UN-developed beaches available, and a thriving city of Davíd, now Panama's 2nd largest, with a new International Airport soon to have DIRECT FLIGHTS to/from the U.S. !
And here's a great option: Coconut Beach Community (.com & Facebook) Come see us...and STAY AWHILE !
Panama: Driving a car into Panama:
I've driven from the U.S. to Panama twice now.
Now I live near David, near the Costa Rica border. So... the hassle of having a car, and NOT WANTING to pay the ridiculous "nationalization" fees/import taxes is...I leave the country every 90 days. Each 30 days within that time, I have to go down to Aduana and get a 30-day renewal.
I don't know how long I'll be able to do this. But, they wanted almost $2,000 for a 2001 Dodge truck !
I'm thinking I'll trade it in eventually. It's not really worth bringing a vehicle. Unless, like me, you have many reasons. (I brought all my stuff, and my big dog, and have always remained mobile.
Con Suerte !
Panama: Looking for great Realtor in Panama who finds great deals, not Gringo prices:
Volcan357...Now THERE's some interesting and new perspectives. Thank you ! And after reading all this, I can only say...it's funny how this person has (rightfully) been directed to Valle Escondido. But how that is completely contradictory to her original request ! hahaha....still, a LOT of great advice. (And interesting reading material !)
Panama: moving to Costa Rica:
IF you are interested in visiting the most beautiful province of Panama, Chiriqui...I would be happy to be of assistance, as I love it here and did NOT like living in Panama City !

Panama: Expat Centre?:
Hola PanamaJames ! Como estas ?
Just noticed this and thought I'd reply....FYI, There USED to be such a place in PTY, run by a very nice gentleman who graciously operated it, as a support office for his real estate and insurance business. All very up-front, honest AND helpful. His name is Gonzalo de la Guardia. And to the people who asked this question originally....listen to those who have responded already: Get OUT of Panama City and Come to Chiriqui Province !
