Argentina: Expats in Córdoba, where are you?:
We've moved to Córdoba a few weeks ago and we would like to connect with expats to exchange, share tips and ideas. We currently live in Cerro De Las Rosas a residential neighborhood. My wife and I speak fluent castellano, english and french.
wanna connect?
Argentina: Getting money into Argentina:
A bank transfer into the account of the seller in Argentina may work best. Although you'll get the official exchange rate which is about 60% less than if you handle dollars bills.
Some people have found a way thru bordering countries such as chile or uruguay. Get a bank account (chile has commercial ties with the US) in a bordering country and withdraw your money as needed. You may have to do several trips, but for a 60% more per dollar, the trip will pay itself and give yourself vacations! i am live in Córdoba let me know if you need anything here.
Argentina: Housing in Córdoba - Argentina:
My wife and I rode our motorcycles from Seattle to Córdoba this year. Housing has been a bit challenging to get. Landlords ask for landowner guarantor to co-sign rent contracts and proof of employment in Argentina, we have none of those. Does anyone know any place that rents to foreigners? We can pay in advance for the contract if the house and the place we find is right.
Argentina: Which country is best?:
Using Xoom if you want to receive cash, it's partner in Argentina (More) will make sign a "declaración jurada". We never moved more than $US2000 at once, but there were times More asked for bank statements, proof of funds and so for. Having the money deposited into a bank account in Argentina may save you from that hassle but puts you at risk of getting a visit from the AFIP (kind of the IRS). Plan and chose wisely.
