Jordan: Ready to move:

Hello Beloved, Based on the information in your posting Aqaba, Jordan would be your most likely place to settle. I am an American and have been living here in Aqaba 6 years. Cost of living in Aqaba is by far the least expensive, since it is designated a special economic zone. I would be glad to discuss this further with you. Private message me. Jerry

Jordan: Aqaba:

Yes, there is a very large ex pat community here in Aqaba. On facebook there are 3 groups. The Aqaba list, Aqaba friends and Expats in Aqaba. There is also a web page, go2jordan.com that is managed by a local here in Aqaba.

Jordan: Nurse in Jordania:

If your wife speaks English, we have an ex pat community here and a couple of them are nurses. I will ask them if this is something they would be interested in doing. If your wife speaks Arabic then there are locals that can also help. When are you moving here?

Jordan: Tax help:

I used TurboTax deluxe online. It does all of the calculations and proper forms and is simple to use. Unless you have some complicated situation I recommend it.

Jordan: Advice for job hunting:

I would suggest you stay where you are until you find a job. First because jobs are hard to come by here, but, secondly if you get hired from outside of the country you typically will get paid a higher salary and possibly even assistance with moving cost and housing allowance. A local hire is paid at the rate of the local market which is very low here. I don't know how some people can afford to live on what they get paid. Good luck

Jordan: House Keeper Needed:

Hello, what part of Jordan do you live? I am not looking for work but I live in Aqaba and can refer house keeper / cleaners for you in Aqaba. Jerry

Jordan: Meeting New Friends in Jordan:

What part of Jordan will you be visiting? I live in the port city of Aqaba. Jerry

Jordan: re-locating from Canada to Jordan:

It depends on where in Jordan you want to live. I live in Aqaba. In Aqaba to get residency for one year or more you need 10,000JD in the bank. If you are under the age of 60 you will need blood work from a local clinic. And a lease for where you will be staying. two current passport size photos of yourself. It takes anywhere from 4 days to about a week for approval. You are granted a one month visa upon arrival and can normally get a 2 month extension from the local police department. If you won't be in Aqaba the only difference I believe is the amount of money required in the bank. My daughter lives with us here and all we had to do was show a birth certificate for her and she is considered a dependent and does not require separate bank account or lease information, and she is over 21 years of age. I hope this helps. All the best for your Dad. Good Luck.

Jordan: Work Permit and Opportunities:

Hi Nicolai, I have been living in Aqaba for over 3 years and from what I have seen, a lot of employers will pay for your work permit fees, but some won't. It depends on the individual company.
