I would suggest u contact your local MX office for exact amount..It appears to vary somewhat between states. In 2015 our amt was $1800 each..Try Google to research it.

We got ours after we got our permanent residency in Cozumel. Assume it's the same everywhere in MX..Go to the Senior Center in your town, that's where we got ours..also google state and will give you a list of discounts available in your state, Jalisco.

Mexico: Bus Travel in Mexico:

Air travel within MX is amazingly cheap, unless u are just hankering for bus ride..We took bus from SMA to Guadalajara last spring, not that good scenery, and some very narrow highways with semi's going very fast. The bus itself is spacious..Check flights between Leon + GDL to Cancun/Merida..

We got our perm visa in 2015 there are several advantages incl discounts on flights within MX, on ferry boats, buses pharmacy, hospitals etc..Google the state you live in and can get a list for your state.

We stayed at Villa San Francisco, a lovely hotel on make on in Lake Chapla..Or I'd try Airbnb.com or VRBO.com since u r staying 2 wks.

I would be sure to explore Cozumel, 30 min ferry ride from PDC. Home of the Ironman every Nov, bike path covering the entire island..Great restaurants, chill vibe, great ex-pat community, low crime and of course #1 dive spot in Caribbean, amazing snorkeling too.

Great idea, info from the horse's mouth so to speak..We live in Cozumel, love it. We've visited Lake Chapla/Ajijic area a few times, its beautiful, near perfect weather and nearby GDL for healthcare and airport..Good Luck with your search.
