Ecuador Welcome Forum: looking for a place to stay in Salinas.:

In Salinas you can find small places from $250 and up per month that have modern facilities, windows, etc. that you would expect. (Many local poorer homes don't have these things.) What is your price point and what do you need?

Ecuador Welcome Forum: October scouting visit, need a little direction:

Salinas is a good option with a friendly and diverse expat community, good food, and the activities you are looking for. You can rent some very nice places here at reasonable rates.

Ecuador: Watch Out for Pollyanna:

It's called info-marketing and it happens in the USA more than anywhere else in the world. Hello Pollyana.

Ecuador Welcome Forum: Best of Ecuador:

Salinas is another nice destination in Ecuador if you lie being near the ocean. It is a vacation town with over 100 condo towers along the beaches (I counted them). Salinas has a small town feel with all of the necessary amenities, especially when considering the commercial district of La Libertade adjacent to Salinas. It's a great family beach town with a lot of expats, so it's easy to make new friends here. Hope you can stop by for a visit.

Ecuador: Documents for mexican citizens coming to Ecuador:

I have a friend coming to Ecuador to live from Mexico. She has lived in the USA for many years without documentation. Will she need to get a criminal background check in mexico - it appears an illegal can't get on in Texas. Do they have Apostile services in Mexico. If anyone from mexico has gone through the experience, your input would be helpful.

Ecuador Welcome Forum: Rain rain rain:

In the resort town of salinas, it almost never rains. Only a few sprinkles this year during the entire rainy season.

Ecuador: Coming and going:

Verifiable statistics seem to be hard to come by on this question. But, if you are asking if there are enough expats here for you to build new social relationships with if you come, the answer is, yes. In Salinas, there are around 1000 or more expats and they are friendly and active, for the most part. It is easy to make new friends and to establish new relationships. I'm sure this is true in other parts of the country as well.

Ecuador: Advice on clothing please.:

T-shirst, shorts for most of the time. A few long-sleeve shirts and maybe one sweatshirt or light jacket for the cool season . Dress is informal and you will not need many long pants or long sleeved shirts.

Ecuador: Ecuador Visa Services:

I agree with Susan. Dana is a reliable option.

Ecuador: Living costs in Ecuador?:

Housing around Salinas. I have done extensive, on the ground research looking at rental options in and around Salinas. At the local level there are a number of 2-3 bedroom apartments for rent between $250-350 but you will have to go through a local agent, not one of the expat realtors to find them. That's not a criticism, they just deal in a different market if you are looking for the lower priced option. A friend just rented a good, clean three bedroom apartment two blocks from the beach with a balcony today for $300. These apartments will be older and the furniture will be old. But they will be serviceable and decent to live in if you are on a limited budget. From there you can move up to a one bedroom, american standard furnished apartment for about $500 per months and, of course you can pay more to be on the ocean -- usually starting around $750. Good luck.
