Absolutely spot on!!
Lithuania: transfer funds from uk to Lithuania:
Nope...she only pays tax on income. e.g. If she earns interest on it, that is liable for tax, in the country the interest is earned. How you got this money in the UK is between you and H.M.R.C. there are what are known as "DTAs"-Double Taxation Agreements. Check the H.M.R.C. website. These can be complicated. I'd recommend you use transferwise . it's all legal etc.
Lithuania: kaunas to šiauliai:
i'm not sure if you got a reply but anyway. from kaunas airport to kaunas central...if i remember rightly, there's a bus that does the trips. when you come out of arrivals (out of the airport), turn left...it's all there. check out the airport web site. the airport really isn't big.
the train station and the bus station are literally opposite each other in kaunas. most young people speak english so it's not too hard to get around.
good luck

Lithuania: black american man in Lithuania:
hello,
i'm sorry for not replying any earlier, i've just been soo busy. anyway, VIlnius is not a bad place, i guess coming from the east end of london, Vilnius is a village. still it can be a little daunting when you're the only none white person around. just be careful of the drunk russians. that's my only observation of my short time in vilnius. it's more cosmopolitan and fashionable than most places. when i say fashionable, you can have long hair and not be frowned upon.
kaunas however, has the bigger "idiot" reputation in the country. that's where i go. however, i've been going there for seven years or so now. as such, in kaunas central "village", i guess people have seen me around, along with my kids. the taxi drivers don;t rip me off anymore. over all, it's afe, racially speaking and i know where you're coming from. a lot of the idiots are just idiots (including the police), no matter what colour you are, if you're like me, you'll still want to donk them one but...you're on your own out there.
any problems, questions let me know.
chat later.
Lithuania: Cost of car ownership/import in Lithuania:
Martijn, are you dutch of belgie? Just out of curiosity.Anyway, there's no road tax there, if you're a dutchy... big plus. Personally unless you know the history. of the car, import it. It's not hard. Check out your local regitra place. Be careful, what you are told today may change tomorrow if you speak to different people in the same place. Locally sourced vehicles often have the mileage played with, have some funny history... cars that are right offs in the west end up like new there. I've seen a few in my time. Often it's not illegal there but in the u.k. nl, Germany etc. It is very!
Lithuania: jobs for english or arabic speakers:
What rikmo has said is pretty much experience in Lt. Whilst it's illegal to stipulate Lt people only etc. It does happen! Don't kid yourself. People do find it hard to get a job there, hence why people leave to the u.k. Ireland etc. Language is a barrier. Employment practices are draconian and punitive. The recreational lifestyle is great...fishing etc. Yes the culture is relatively negative, one word springs to mind "boodoolis".See how the locals treat their beautiful countryside... fantastic lakes and ponds..littered by idiots who leave their burnt out rubbish on the shore, broken alcohol bottles and other debris.Anyway, for a westerner there, working for a Lithuanian company would be a prison sentence.Start your own business is the solution. There are opportunities there buy cheap from outside and sell at a profit there and vice versa,
Lithuania: Holiday Celebrations in Lithuania:
sounds good, especially for the christmas/new year time...any around in kaunas then?
Lithuania: Advice About Relocating:
for what it's worth, i'm in a similar situation to you..re. WFH. anyway, you's have to pay your taxes in Lt, if it's more than 183d...the 183 law/rule that you mentioned. on the plus side, tax in Lt. is good like the u.k....don't choke on your cup of tea matey..i live in the netherlands...we're thinking of going back to the u.k....for tax purposes. get yourself a good accountant. i use skype for my business. works better in kaunas than the Hague!! the internet/t.v. has come a long way in the seven year that i've being going there. i get fibre optic in our house. re. permission...officially as a U.K. citizen (with british passport etc.) you can live work anywhere in the E.U. living by the same laws as any local. however, in Lt...it's a law unto itself...Booh to E.U. directives...try registering your right hand drive car there! rent is CHEAP (by U.K. standards)!! you will get a nice flat in vilnius/kaunas for cheap money. food (local prod) is cheap and very good, the meat and veg. is top quality, no preservatives/irratiated etc. language...to speak it properly..good luck. it is what i call a "Complex" language. i speak french and spanish, Lt is much tougher. get yourself an Lt "friend". it helps. eating out, pubs, bars clubs etc. are very reasonable. my czech rep friend said it's cheaper in prague though and more advanced. i believe him.
for what you want, i think you won't have a problem...just be aware of follies and be streetwise. visit the fco web site.
let us know how it goes and good luck.

Lithuania: Avoiding Lithuanian bureaucracy:
nige...i'm not too sure about your points but clearly you had some good luck. smfurgusson seems more realistic. the country is renown for red tape...even with an Lt. Mrs. (who is a teacher and mum is a teacher and grand mum...extra educated) and kids (yeh my kids do my translation for me now ...hmmm..what is my world coming to?? oh dear). bribery still works but true, it's on the less. the country has improved dramtically in the seven years i've been there (35% per annum).
in the netherlands, it works quick too. buying a car in the U.K. is easy too, pay your money, do the log book stuff and off you go. persoally Lt. looks a lot more complicated than anywhere i've lived, checkout the regitra pages...and try registering a right hand drive car there...completely against E.U. directives.
Lithuania: UK TV in Lithuania:
...ok...so they give access to a vpn...i didn;t see how many devices can use the vpn. hidemyass (amongst others) is also a good solution. i use it all over...lithuania and holland mainly. personally, the sky t.v. is a great option, here in the hague, there are people that supply you with sky t.v. including subscription. i'm not sur how it's done (and the legality of it). i do pay for a t.v. lic. btw :-) however, i think you can get free view channels on the regular sky t.v. satelite dish and decoder box. i know people here (in the hague) who have it.
