Philippines: Potential to move to Puerto Galera:
Hi Linda, everything' the guys say is correct. Also another big obstacle you will have is that you are not connected to the Philippines through marriage, speaking from experience if you want to get a working visa here and you are western without a Filipino husband or wife immigration will make it as hard as possible and also charge you through the nose for the privilege. Me and my husband moved here because he was expanding his business and we are lucky enough to have a very very close family friend who has been in business with my husband for a few years already. You will need a working visa because as someone pointed out the competition will be the first to notify immigration if you are not legit.
Feel free to drop me a pm .
Good luck

If you speak to a good expat FA you can actually open a HK company and trade in the philipines where there is no 60% share and also no tax. With this your company naturally will have assets and if that's happens to be a house so be it. The key is you need someone who specialises to do it for you. I have a british contact living in manila who is 'the best' and specialises in tax, pensions and expat businesses.
Depends how much you want to own the house and if you don't actually have a business it may be too much time and effort.
Have a good day guys
Philippines: Expat women in cavite:
Does anyone know of any sports groups or any kind of women's expat gatherings in cavite?
Thanks all
Philippines: What the Philippine ExpatExchange Forum is about and what it is not:
Khryzthinne, I seen your post below..... Can I just ask we're you demonstrating 'sensitivity to others feelings' when you quoted me and then stated 'a load of old scottish tosh' .... Pot kettle..... twat!
I totally agree with what CAteacher has posted about the forum. We all have the right to voice out opinion but would it be nicer if we're also careful and be sensitive to other people's feelings. Some people here personally intend to ruin some good conversations here. They should learn what social responsibility is.
Philippines: Shipping Items to Philippines:
I wouldn't take them on the lane as it will be very expensive. Th best and most reasonable priced is balikbayan boxes which can take 4-8 weeks but at a fraction of the cost. I wouldn't advise sending anything of great value by this method though.
Philippines: Places to shop online::
I also found lazada to be really good , cheaper than amazon and deliver within 10 days more often within 3!
Philippines: Pleaseee give me the good Oil:
Welcome!
I can only input on a few points...
Spuds you can get them but they are sold in small quantities like 2/4 Ina pack so if your making a Sunday roast like I do it takes a couple packs. They are not as good as the UK but they are ok and serve the purpose if having them with a meal.
Postage - we use parcel monkey which I think is UK only but worth checking out as their prices are reasonable and they use DHL when it arrives in Phil but are way cheaper than if you used DHL from the off. Safety wise I would say DHL your stuff and it will be safe. As with all postage we receive from UK watch out for the import taxes! even if you select to pay all costs when you send it! you still get charged 500/1000 php when it arrives.
We don't pay anything on arrival either, our biggest outlays have been to get our working visas, because none of us are filipino or marrying a filipino it's really long winded and expensive to get our visas. 8000 php each for AEP , money on getting copies of everything, getting it's all notarised, and we need to pay at immigration too to get our actual visa.
It's not so much bribing it's more the length if time it takes to get anything done, countless sheets of paper (some of which is the same info) numerous trips to different government offices.
Have you been here before?
Hope some of this helps
