Guatemala: Importing a car:
I know it has been posted before but the newest post I saw was 2013, does anybody have updated info for importing a suv? Looking to import a suv between a 2002-2006 also does it have to have the original motor in it? My husband said they match the motor number with the vehicle but there's no motor number on the title in the USA so how would they do that. Looking at buying a vehicle with a somewhat newer motor so it last longer. Any advice??

Guatemala: does anybody know a shipping company from USA to Guatemala:
Hi, I'm a US citizen living in Guatemala but I am currently back in the USA awaiting surgery. I need to ship some things over to my husband in Guate but can't seem to find the right company. I'm in NJ and I know they have places that ship by size of box instead of weight because I did it a couple years ago. Can't seem to find them now does anybody know of any places. Thanks
Guatemala: a few basic things, internet and phone:
Hi, I bring phones over from the states all the time. It doesn't matter if you unlock here in guate or over where you are now. Once unlocked you can go to claro or tigo and get a prepaid sim card to put in your phone and that's it that will be yours to use with a private number for as long as your here then you can recharge at any store that has the claro or tigo logo. As far as internet we have the prepaid tigo movil usb. U have the option to pay q200 to buy it outright and the give you a month of free internet or you can do a monthly payment plan for the 200. There's different prices for recharging its 4gb for q200 or 1gb for q150 there there's smaller ones like 1 day usage. You recharge it just like the phone at any store with a tigo logo.
Guatemala: visa extension questions and tapachula:
Hi, I'm coming up on my 90 days and debating wether to extend my passport or do a visa run. The problem is I can't get to migracion to extend until april 1st and my 90 days expires april 6th. I know they say your suppose to go 8 days before but is that just so u don't have to pay a overextension or will they not accept my request for a extention if its not 8 days before. The other question is I have heard horror stories about visa runs to tapachula. Any feedback would be great. I wonder if belize is a better option. Does tapachula require a $400 deposit until I leave mexico? Also we will be driving so what is required for our car for both belize and mexico. Thank you for your help

Guatemala: Qualifying for Disability Benefits Abroad:
Not true, you can file for your ssdi benefits while in Guatemala you have to print out the application online and send it to the ssi office in the US Embassy in Guatemala I already filed and have been back and forth with a agent. I am now just waiting for them to review the rest of my medical records and receive my decision.
