Ecuador Welcome Forum: Renewed Passport & EC Visa:

When I recently was in Guayaquil I went to the main office of the EC migration ministry. I was told that your EC visa MUST be moved to your renewed passport only when your cedula must be renewed. In my case, my cedula must be renewed in 2026. My renewed USA passport expires in 2027. So, I plan to renew my passport in 2026 and then get my cedula renewed and move my visa at that time – assuming I live that long. In the meantime, I will carry my new and old passports with me when I go out/in the country. That way I will save the $150 which is the current (2017) price to move the visa to a renewed passport. Of course, this being Ecuador, the rules probably will change.

Ecuador Welcome Forum: New (2017) Immigration Law:

The EC Assembly has passed the new Movilidad Humana (Immigration) law and the president is expected to sign it early next month. Does anyone know on what date the law will go into effect? If the president signs it in the morning it cannot possibly go into effect that afternoon. Also, what happens with the visa applications that are already filed?

I had 2 divorces and only needed the doc from the last. just the FJ&D is needed. If you will be going to Quito I recommend the facilitator (not lawyer) I used. I am looking to go to playa de oro reserva de tigrillos and have not been able to find a current email contact for making a reservation directly with the lodge. Through the lodge I had been told that I may make a reservation on the boat to the reserve without having to pay for the entire boat to the reserve. Any help out there?

I am in Crucita near Manta. I live alone but have a TOTALLY furnished, 3-bedroom, 2 bath apartment with a balcony across the street from the beach. I will be leaving for 6 months at the end of Feb. I have my MD in the USA write prescriptions for a full year supply. I pay for the Rx directly so there is no insurance company restrictions to 90-day supply. For my Rx (diabetes & HT) I found Costco to be the least expensive.

It may not be for a lawyer but you do not need a lawyer. Two years ago I had an English speaking facilitator in Quito handle getting my pensioner visa. He charge was $250. I am looking or info on public transport from Loja and on to the following towns Saraguro, Ona, Susudel, Santa Isabel, Guyaquil. I found one bus from Loja to Saraguro but nothing after that. Also, any info of contacts, lodging, etc. in the smaller towns would be appreciated.

Ecuador: Cedula Replacement:

I need to replace my lost Cedula. At the Registro Civil office in Portoviejo I was told that cedulas for foreigners are only replaced in Quito and Cuenca. Can anyone verify or contradict this? If it is correct, any idea as to the turn around time in Cuenca from requesting a replacement to having one in hand? I was also told that just the cedula number is needed (I have copies) but I would thing at least my passport would be needed. Thanks for your help
