Barbados: 3 month stay--suggestions?:

Hi, I just found this forum--happy to be here. A friend and I are coming to Barbados Jan 3 for three months, and are looking for suggestions where to stay. We'd like the Caribbean side of the island, walking distance to a good snorkeling/swimming beach, a fridge and hotplate-type thing for cooking. We could share a room, but separate beds would be best. In Jamaica i had a situation like this, cost me $300 cdn/month. Is this a reasonable expectation for Barbados?
