New Zealand: Should I try NZ again??:
Wherever you decide to live, you've got to understand that your situation is not unique. All over the world, people cop it for what their governments have done. And unfortunately American international relations is very topical right now, so it's not just something you're going to come up against in NZ. So my two cents is: pick a place to live and participate in your community so the people around you will see that you are a person in your own right, and not just America personified.
Korea: A Aussie in Gwangju:
Hi, where in Gwangju do you live? My partner and I live near the airport. We are Kiwis who have been here 6 months. I would strongly recommend you getting in touch with the Gwangju International Centre gwangjuic@hotmail.com
They offer Korean lessons (next ones start June 22) and culture trips, and a great network to meet other foreigners.
Best of luck,
Rebekah
Australia: Younger Traveller:
Hi, I would say not easy for you to move to Australia - sorry to burst your bubble. Anyway, how do you know you want to live there if you haven't been there before? My recommendation is to visit as you plan, and then go home and get a degree in medicine (or engineering, teaching, etc), then try and apply for residence.
Cheers
Russia: Vladivostok:
I'm interested in hearing from expats in Vladivostok. I would like to go there for a few weeks but everyone I've spoken to has either been robbed or beaten up, or both! Can anyone tell me some of the nice things about Vladivostok or about whether there is another eastern Russian town I should visit instead.
Thanks
Japan: Summer Festivals 2004:
Can anyone tell me the dates of the summer festivals in the Kansai area this year? e.g. Gion Festival, Kobe festival, Tenjin festival. They are often close together, so I am trying to plan a week in Japan around these festivals. If you can help me out that would be wonderful.
Thanks
Korea: Gossaumnori:
Does anyone know where/when I might be able to see Gossaumnori, a traditional Korean fighting festival?
New Zealand: relocation from uk:
A place to start might be ubd.co.nz which is a business directory. Enter 'hairdresser' in the product/role category and pick a place. You will be provided with contact details for haridressing firms all over NZ. I hope this helps.
Korea: Gwangju:
I was wondering if anyone knows a good pub in Gwangju where foreigners go for a pint. Been here one month and still haven't found one.
Czech Republic: Moving to Prague:
Hi, I see you posted this message quite a while ago, but if you are in Prague, how is it going? My partner and I are looking at going there for a year in 2006 to teach English/WHY. Any advice?
Korea: Moving to Korea?:
Hi. Q I have also taught in Japan and am now teaching English in Korea. I think you will find it less expensive than Japan and a lot more laid-back, particularly in places other than Seoul. At the moment there are really good opportunities for English teachers with degrees as you are probably aware: free airfares, free accommodation and competitive salaries are fairly easy to locate.
