Germany: Lilving and working in Germany:
I wanted to move to Berlin from the USA and started exploring online. I found an open position in a company in the industry in which I work. I applied and have a Video teleconference interview. I was given a formal offer and accepted. So, with my new employment contract and additional paperwork, I applied for a residence visa at the German Consulate in Houston, TX. I was given a 90 day Residence Visa before I left the states. That allowed me to start work immediately while I waited for my appointment with the Auslanderbehorde in Berlin to apply for a longer Residence Visa. I was given a 3 year Residence Visa for myself as well as for my wife and daughter. If you have a degree, that helps and my next goal is to apply for the new http://www.bluecard-eu.de/. Planning is key, action is required and life in Berlin is wonderful! Hope my story gives some insights on how to realize your dreams. I was stationed in Berlin in the early 70's and fell in love with it then. It was like coming home.
Germany: Which city has the affordable multi cultural schools in Germany?:
I can speak directly about Berlin. I moved here in June 2012 with my wife and daughter from Texas. I applied with John F. Kennedy School for my 16yr old daughter (she had 3 yrs for German classes before we moved here). It is an excellent school and easy for American students to transition. I cannot praised the school and facility enough. Berlin is not as expensive to live as other major cities and the public transportation system is very good.
