Panama: Accommodation Boquette:

Hi, In an earlier post, you mentioned staying by the ocean. Just wanted to let you know that Boquete is a mountain town. It is very beautiful. In December, you will be near the end of the rainy season and headed into the dry season. Because of the elevation the humidity is never too bad there. If you are just looking to stay in a hotel in Boquete, I would suggest Isla Verde (http://www.islaverdepanama.com/) because it is is within walking distance to most things. It is also a unique property and expat owned. If you need help with finding areas to stay by the ocean, please send me an email at info@panamarelocationtours.com Thank you! Panama: Hotel suggestions???:

Coronado - try to Bijao ..its about 20mins down the road but its a great all inclusive resort by Sheraton right on the beach. http://www.starwoodhotels.com/sheraton/property/overview/index.html?propertyID=3693 In Boquete - we like the Oasis and Isla Verde (expat owned). both of these are great because you can walk around town if you stay at either one of these hotels. http://oasisboquete.com/ http://www.islaverdepanama.com/ We stay at some of these hotels when we run our monthly Panama Relocation Tours for future expats looking to relocate to Panama. (www.PanamaRelocationTours.com). Thanks! Melissa Lange

Panama: Want to move SOMEWHERE but getting more confused:

We've visited Ecuador and I loved it so much that we decided to expand our relocation tour company there. My boyfriend has lived in Ecuador off and on since 2004 and has tons of contacts with both the expats and many of the locals so I got the in's and out's of everything that Ecuador has to offer. Vilcabamba is a dream. Its very peaceful and the nature really draws you in. Breathtaking views everywhere. Realistically, it may be too quiet for me there to live there full time. There are expats but its still a very small town. If you like living in the country, then you will love it. Loja is about an hour away and you can drive there for major shopping needs. Cuenca has some beautiful architecture and its a big enough city that I don't think I would get too bored there. I am considering relocating there this year not only for the business but because I loved it and I miss it everyday that I am not there. The tour guide that works for our Ecuador relocation company has lived in Ecuador for over 13 years with his family. Him and his wife are originally from Argentina. My boyfriend lives there a few months out of the year as well to work the tours with him. Since I do all of the booking for our Panama and Ecuador relocation tour companies online I'm not really tied down to one location. So with the freedom I have, its hard to decide on one place. Cuenca has awesome AFFORDABLE food from all over the world (including all of the healthy foods like raw foods, juice bars, vegetarian, vegan, etc). The expats don't outnumber the locals in Cuenca. The city is too big for that to really happen anytime soon although the number of expats coming into Cuenca is not slowing down anytime soon either. My favorite area is El Centro downtown. The rent in Cuenca is cheap and so is the food. I noticed that home furnishings are much more expensive there than in Panama. Manta is an awesome beach town. I really shouldn't call it a town because its definitely a city. It has everything you need right there if you want to live at the beach. Its much bigger than any of the popular beach towns in Panama. We met up with about 30 expats as a group while we were there and had a great lunch on the beach. We ran into a couple we knew from living in Panama over the summer that were also thinking of relocating to Ecuador. Its a small world! I love the way the homes are built in Ecuador. Tons of character. One of the things I notice about Ecuador vs. Panama is the roads. The roads in Ecuador look brand spanking new compared to the ones in Panama. My parents have lived in Boquete, Panama full time for about 3 years now and don't really plan on leaving anytime soon. For me, I'm thinking Cuenca, Ecuador might be more realistic for me full time. I am 32 years old and still want to live an active life in the city. On an exciting side note, we just found out this week that we'll be filming with House Hunters International in Ecuador helping a young couple find a rental in Ecuador. Whether its Panama or Ecuador that you choose I strongly encourage you to rent first before buying anything just to make sure you like it first.

Panama: Biking:

If you plan on biking at all I would suggest bringing your own bike. When I lived in El Valle and tried buying my own bikes there it was a disaster and they fell apart on me every single day.
