Nicaragua: rent for 2 bdrm house:

it depends on how deep into the Nica community you want to live and how well you speak Spanish. We know people who have great deals in Granada for $300, I would say that is your lowest figure for near an expat community.

Nicaragua: Best places for single senior citizen on a budget:

There are many expats living on less but, they speak excellent Spanish and they live in the local community. Avoid Granada and SJDS. Be careful, prices are rising and we know many expats that can't afford to leave. They are stuck.

Nicaragua: Another of so many narcotics questions:

Narcotics are very controlled and hard to get. Don't count on it even if you talk to a doctor. You can call Vivian Pellas hospital and talk to someone in English. Our friends who have had problems develop that would require narcotics returned to the US or Canada. The local docs would not give one friend who had terminal cancer and mucho pain anything narcotic.

Nicaragua: Yellow Fever Vaccination:

I have had the shot twice and my husband once, no side effects.

Nicaragua: Are my prescriptions available:

Farmacias have a list of what drugs are allowed in Nicaragua. You need to visit and ask a pharmacist. Most drugs are available but I recently found out that the vicks inhaler - over the counter - has been made illegal and I cannot buy it here anymore. You could call the pharmacy at Vivian Pellas hospital outside Managua and ask. They have English speaking people.

Nicaragua: Which Central American Country is Best to LIve:

I, for one, grow weary of the seekers seeking the best of whatever. Live wherever you want to live, it is a big world out there. We like where we live for lots of reasons and we are free to move on when we want to. We hope others do the same.

Nicaragua: Leon to Airport:

The major problem we have encountered on roads at night is livestock. Cows, horses and oxen are let out to feed and they roam free. Watch out.

Nicaragua: Leon Night Life:

Check the Leon facebook pages. The expats have get togethers and those will be good places to meet people who can introduce you to life in Leon. It is a college town, so expect some rowdy times.

Nicaragua: Esteli for the non Spanish speaking Gringo:

Great is my understanding, but, visit first. Too many people make their decision based on what they read and pictures. We are watching them not like it after they have spent lots of time and money. You need to be in a place for some time to experience it and see how it works for you. Don't make up your mind until you have been on the ground for awhile.

Nicaragua: internet:

Matagalpa has a facebook page, I would ask there. Many people work on line in Nicaragua so you should find like minded folks.
